Senior Platform Architect (Hybrid Platform: Kubernetes, Middleware & Databases) 

Role summary

Lead architecture and hands-on technical oversight of our enterprise Platform across on-prem datacenters and public cloud, covering Kubernetes, middleware, and database platforms. Define standards and reference architectures, oversee adoption with engineering teams, and align Infrastructure, Security, Operations and application stakeholders on consistent platform direction.

Key responsibilities

• Define platform target architecture, standards, and roadmap; maintain reference architectures and deprecation plans.

• Architect and design

  • Kubernetes platform capabilities (multi-tenancy, guardrails/policies, upgrades, day-2 ops patterns) and oversee implementation with platform teams.

  • Middleware platforms and integration patterns with HA/scaling/capacity/observability standards.

  • Database platform capabilities; define HA/replication, backup/restore, patching, encryption, DR (RPO/RTO), onboarding guardrails, monitoring/runbooks.

• Lead technical deep-dives for complex incidents/performance issues and translate learnings into standards and design improvements.

• Provide hands-on technical leadership: lead PoCs when needed, review key configurations and design artefacts, guide troubleshooting war rooms, and validate production readiness with engineering teams.

• Drive cross-team decisions and ensure adoption (Infrastructure, Security/Risk, Operations, application teams).

Requirements

• 10+ years in platform/cloud/infrastructure with hands-on architecture oversight in production (design + guide build + operate).

• Strong and proven experience across various paltforms – Kubernetes ( OpenShift / EKS Anywhere ) middleware stack (Kafka, Spring Cloud Gateway, IBM MQ, AMQ) and  databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or distributed)

• Strong stakeholder management and decision-making and comfortable working across infra dependencies (LB/Firewall/ Storage/ Virtualization)

Certifications (plus)

• Kubernetes: CKA / CKAD / CKS

• Red Hat / VMware: OpenShift certification (e.g., EX280) and/or VMware VCP

• Security / Cloud (optional): CCSP (or equivalent), plus any major public-cloud certifications

• Messaging / Integration / DB (optional): vendor certifications or formal training related to Kafka, IBM MQ, PostgreSQ, OracleL, CockroachDB
