Job Summary

This position reports to Director Energy Operations and CleanTech – APAC and is responsible for supporting delivery of Equinix Global Energy and Sustainability strategy in APAC. The role will be part of the team leading the Equinix Energy Procurement and Sustainability program and will work globally with other project teams and stakeholders to provide strategic support and leadership to deliver the program in APAC.  The role is expected to use broad expert knowledge to lead business-critical negotiations with top-tier suppliers, optimizing terms and fostering long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible day-to-day management of Energy and Renewable Energy contracts across APAC

  • Manage the energy sourcing and purchasing process in APAC including development of qualified bidders’ lists; receipt and evaluation of proposals; financial modeling/analysis; contract negotiation, award and administration of purchase orders, and preparation and distribution of records and reports

  • Day-to-day program and project management of key renewable energy workstreams across areas such as offsite PPAs, onsite PPAs, environmental commodities (RECs, GOs, etc.) and distributed energy technologies (fuel cells, batteries, etc.) 

  • Participate in development, management, and evolving renewable energy procurement strategy to support overall long-term corporate sustainability objectives

  • Engage with energy consultant to monitor market trends and to understand technical details around available electricity products

  • Oversee the management and negotiation of utility connection agreements, ensuring reliable and cost-effective power supply for Equinix’s operations

  • Assist in the development and execution of strategies to ensure continuous and reliable power availability across all Equinix facilities, considering both current needs and future growth

  • Establish and manage relationships with internal stakeholders including supporting the Utilities & Energy team, Global Operations, Accounting, Sales & customers, Investor & Analyst Relations and Marketing

  • . Regularly present to country MD’s and other internal/external groups as necessary

  • Ability to travel frequently travel internationally and domestically

Qualifications

  • 7 to 10 years’ experience working power utilities procurement, and/or sustainability

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred

  • Experience with complex contract negotiations and supplier management specific to utilities procurement

  • Supplier / Utility / Energy Consultancy experience

  • Broad understanding of Power Purchasing Agreements (PPA’s) in APAC and experience with financial modeling and analysis

  • Possess excellent negotiation skills, evidenced by significant deliverables (e.g., cost savings, risk mitigation) resulting from completed negotiations

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, successfully interfacing with all internal and external stakeholders

  • Provide excellent analytical skills identifying all options available and defining best possible solutions
