Role Responsibilities

Liquidnet is seeking a Sales Trader with 3–5 years of experience to join its Singapore algorithmic trading desk. This role will play a key part in expanding Liquidnet’s Execution & Quantitative Services (EQS) offering across APAC. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships within Singapore’s institutional trading community, a solid understanding of APAC equity markets, and hands-on experience with algorithmic trading strategies. A consultative sales approach is essential, with the ability to engage clients and deliver tailored execution solutions. As one of Asia’s leading liquidity providers, Liquidnet also expects the candidate to have a strong grasp of the region’s dark venue landscape and how it integrates with algorithmic trading.

We are also seeking an individual with a strong understanding of execution consulting, including the ability to interpret transaction cost analysis (TCA) and translate insights into actionable recommendations on trading strategies. The candidate should be able to dynamically advise clients in response to evolving market conditions, selecting appropriate strategies and adapting trading styles as needed. A solid grasp of both benchmark-driven and opportunistic algorithms is essential, along with a strong understanding of market structure and regulatory frameworks.
The ideal candidate:

  • Experience in APAC equities trading, particularly in client coverage, with a strong working knowledge of electronic trading, dark / liquidity pools & TCA.
  • They should demonstrate exceptional client service, commercial awareness, and a collaborative mindset, operating with integrity and professionalism.
  • We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, self-driven, and genuinely passionate about equities. Having established client relationships, a good reputation within the Singapore equities community and ability to perform under pressure is also beneficial.
  • The candidate should be eager to build on what Liquidnet has successfully achieved over the past 25 years.
  • The role also involves identifying new business opportunities that align with evolving market trends, client needs, and product developments, and executing agreed initiatives.
  • They will leverage analytics and trade-related data to help Members optimise trading and investment performance, while collaborating with internal teams to manage relationships, expectations, and cross-regional coordination.
  • A strong understanding of regulatory and governance frameworks is essential, along with a strong commitment to integrity, compliance, risk awareness, and process improvement to drive operational excellence.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across global teams are key. Fluency in written and spoken English is required, and an appreciation for diversity and inclusivity is valued. Cross-asset trading experience is an advantage.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Monitor and execute client algo and high touch orders across single stocks and portfolios via Liquidnet’s pool and algorithmic suite
  • Provide proactive, tailored trading insight and execution advice based on client objectives, market conditions, and Liquidnet’s capabilities.
  • Deliver execution consulting, including pre- and intra-trade strategy guidance, interpretation of trading outcomes, and post-trade recommendations to support best execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while actively engaging prospects; contribute to client onboarding and drive adoption across algorithms, high-touch, and program trading (PT).
  • Develop a deep understanding of client workflows and trading needs, working closely with Business Development and Trading Coverage to enhance integration and platform usage.
  • Collaborate with APAC EQS, product, and global teams to identify market trends, refine strategy, and enhance Liquidnet’s algo offering in line with client requirements and regional market structure.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of APAC market structure, regulation, and the competitive landscape; provide internal feedback to ensure the platform remains best-in-class.
  • Build effective relationships across internal stakeholders globally, including business heads, peers, and support functions.
  • Maintain accurate client records and pipeline activity using Salesforce.
