Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components across the product lifecycle — from concept and feasibility through prototyping, validation, and handoff to manufacturing. The role translates engineering requirements into detailed technical deliverables including schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOM), while ensuring strict compliance with international safety and regulatory standards such as SEMI S2/S8, CE Marking Directives, EMC, and IPC standards for PCBA. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams including Software, Mechanical, Optical, Systems Engineering and Manufacturing to deliver integrated and reliable solutions for semiconductor equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using industry-standard CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, Zuken)
- Perform circuit analysis and electrical load calculations to ensure design reliability, system integrity and interlock logic designs
- Select appropriate electrical components and materials based on performance, cost-effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and project specifications
- Design and review PCBA schematics and PCB layouts — including component placement, routing strategies, signal integrity and power distribution
- Apply EMC design principles (filtering, shielding, grounding, cable routing) to meet CE marking and emissions and immunity requirements
- Ensure electrical designs comply with semiconductor equipment safety standards: SEMI S2/S10/S22, IPC-A-610, CE/LVD Directives, and applicable international standards: UL/CSA
- Construct and test physical prototypes to validate designs, troubleshoot issues, and verify functionality under tool operating conditions
- Execute system integration and prototype testing in collaboration with cross-functional Mechanical, Software, Optical, Systems Engineering and Manufacturing teams
- Perform interlock system diagnostics and fault isolation — including loop-checking, simulation, and FMEA-driven troubleshooting
- Liaise with Regulatory/Compliance teams and external certification bodies (Salus, SGS, TÜV, UL) to support product testing and approvals
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation: design specifications, BOMs, cable schedules, wiring lists, test procedures, assembly/installation instructions, and user manuals
- Provide technical support for customer escalations by identifying electrical system problems and applying appropriate solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s/Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ of experience in electrical design
- Experience in a semiconductor industry is an advantage
- Proven experience in designing electrical systems, schematics, and interconnect solutions for complex equipment
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
- AutoCAD Electrical
- SolidWorks Electrical
- Zuken tools
- Familiarity with electrical components, system-level design considerations, and integration with mechanical and system teams
- Ability to leverage AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude to improve design efficiency, documentation, or problem-solving is preferred
