Director, Head of Oncology Marketing 

Location: Tokyo, Japan

As Natera expands its international footprint, we are seeking a dynamic Oncology Marketing Director to build and lead our commercial oncology strategy in Japan.

Position Summary:

The Oncology Marketing Director, Japan, will be responsible for driving Natera’s commercial oncology strategy and marketing execution in one of the most critical global markets. This role will lead the localization, launch, and growth of Signatera™ and future oncology products in Japan, working at the intersection of innovation, science, and market need. This individual will also lead patient-centered initiatives, including public awareness campaigns and partnerships with advocacy organizations, to increase education around cancer recurrence monitoring and the benefits of personalized testing.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Marketing Leadership

• Develop and execute Natera’s oncology marketing strategy for Japan, aligned with global objectives and tailored to local market dynamics.

• Drive go-to-market planning and execution for Signatera™ and other oncology solutions, including pricing, positioning, segmentation, and messaging.

• Manage brand planning, forecasting, and marketing investment decisions to drive adoption and revenue growth.

Market Development & Education

• Partner with Medical Affairs and Sales to educate clinicians, oncologists, and KOLs on the clinical utility and value proposition of Signatera™.

• Build awareness and demand through omni-channel campaigns, peer-to-peer education, and conference participation.

Patient Education & Advocacy Engagement

• Lead the design and implementation of patient education initiatives, ensuring patients and caregivers understand the role of ctDNA testing in cancer care.

• Establish and manage partnerships with patient advocacy groups and cancer support organizations to develop co-branded materials, host educational events, and improve outreach.

• Develop and execute public awareness campaigns to increase understanding of cancer recurrence monitoring and non-invasive testing options.

• Ensure all patient-facing materials meet ethical and regulatory standards in Japan.

Launch Readiness & Execution

• Drive launch readiness activities including market research, field force enablement, KOL engagement, and public affairs support.

• Collaborate with Market Access and HEOR teams to support patient access and reimbursement pathways. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Act as the voice of the Japanese market in global marketing and product discussions.

• Coordinate closely with global marketing, regulatory affairs, market access, medical affairs, and commercial operations.

Team & Partner Management

• Manage external vendors and agencies to deliver impactful campaigns and programs.

• Recruit and lead a local marketing team as business operations scale.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

• 10+ years of progressive marketing experience in life sciences or diagnostics, with at least 5 years in oncology within Japan.

• Demonstrated success in launching innovative healthcare products and leading patient-centric campaigns.

• Strong understanding of the Japanese oncology and diagnostics ecosystem, including KOLs, patient organizations, and regulatory landscape.

• Business-level English and fluent Japanese required.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in molecular diagnostics, patient advocacy relations, or public health communications.

• Strong storytelling and brand positioning capabilities with a focus on both clinicians and patients.

• Passionate about precision oncology and empowering patients through education.
