Purpose of role:

Since inception in 2021 Institutional Investor Coverage (IIC) has been a key growth driver for GCIB APAC. Responsibility for strategy, balance sheet, clients and client outcomes is with the Regional Head of Institutional investors with dedicated IIC coverage teams in Australia, Singapore, HK and Mumbai. Clients are global and Asian sponsors, SWFs and pension funds while key IIC products are Sublines, EML, NAV, credit back leverage, hedging, selective type of RE and LAF and cross over structures combining different product elements

The position is a regional role purposed to : (1) Support the coverage strategy for the institutional investor segment in conjunction with the Head of IIC for APAC; (2) Implement and execute the strategy; (3)  actively manage and pursue a select number of relationships with Institutional Investors all as part of the Financial Institutions and broader Global Corporate & Institutional Banking business strategy.

Principal focus will be applied on enabling continued IIC growth through further scaling and operational efficiency which requires oversight over a growing and complex regional book, coordination across IIC locations and the execution of bespoke solution trades. In addition the continued improvement in delivery of TB and cash for multi-product relationships and overall yearly material uplifts in revenue

This resource will be a driver in building out the funds and financial sponsors business in the region, own and be accountable for internal product/structuring discussions and managing inbound and outbound client requirements. They will be familiar with the sector’s buying behavior and well-versed in the common structures employed or products purchased by these funds/sponsors and have a strong independent mind set able to drive business

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic       

Implement the strategy for the Institutional Investors clients segment with the relevant stakeholders (IIC teams, other regional coverage teams, product and second line functions);

Engage with the senior stakeholders and rally the necessary support for its implementation

Management of target clients through implementation of a deep account planning process;

Work with product partners to market & deliver the Bank’s worldwide products and services

Financial

Achieve Revenue target at segment and client levels; Manage balance sheet and achieve above target ROE

Customer

To support IIC Head in actively identifying, developing and promoting new business and relationship management with client groups in cross selling a healthy product mix.                                                                                                                    

To ensure respective country accounts plans are maintained, fit for execution and regularly reviewed.                                             

Support IIC teams in introducing clients to MUFG affiliates and partner banks; explore new opportunities as One MUFG. Enhance Cross-Regional activities, by collaborating with local RMs/GRMs

Other/ Control

Ensure adherence to all Regional/ Country Risk and Compliance requirements and the prevailing Regulations, resulting in zero regulatory or compliance breaches.                                                                                   

Proactively identify and remediate risk and control issues (e.g. credit and operational risk inclusive of information security, data accuracy/integrity, and fiduciary duties                                                                 

Establish and maintain effective internal controls indicative of a disciplined culture that continuously strives to prevent unsafe or unsound practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years in banking industry comprising minimum 4 years covering FIG in a combination of coverage, analyst, advisory or product role.

  • Minimum 3 years as a Relationship Manager or fund finance specialist role

  • Demonstrated knowledge of local finance laws, regulations as well as fund finance

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree qualified

  • Professional certification such as CFA / CAIA charter are advantageous

  • Strong stakeholder management skills to collaborate with other departments

  • Credit analysis skills
