Role Summary:
The Director, Group Tax will lead and manage aspects of global tax strategy, governance, and compliance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. The Director will oversee tax-related aspects of ESR Group’s operations, including corporate transactions, investment structures, fund establishment and cross-border tax advisory, Pillar Two implementation, OECD Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), transfer pricing, tax risk management and compliance across a diverse and dynamic group of jurisdictions which include China, India, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and Europe. The role will require proactive engagement with senior executives, regional finance teams, and external advisors to deliver effective, commercially sound tax solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Tax Leadership
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Group’s tax strategy in line with business goals and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Set up, disseminate, and drive support for the Group’s tax governance framework, ensuring consistent application across the organisation.
- Lead process change and enhance tax reporting systems to improve transparency, accuracy, and timeliness.
Corporate Transactions, M&A, and Investments
- Oversee tax due diligence, structuring, and execution for M&A transactions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
- Provide strategic tax input into investment evaluations, including fund structuring, set-up documentation, and exit planning.
- Advise on the tax implications of legal entity rationalisation initiatives, ensuring optimal post-transaction structures.
Operational & Compliance Management
- Lead legal entity rationalisation projects, ensuring tax efficiency and compliance.
- Oversee tax aspects of divestment of non-core assets, including planning, execution, and post-deal integration/separation.
- Manage tax compliance for investment funds, including FATCA and CRS classification and tax filings, application of fund tax incentives, GST remission claims.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings for all relevant legal entities in Singapore and across the Group’s regional operations.
Pillar Two (Global Minimum Tax) Implementation
- Lead APAC implementation and ongoing compliance with the OECD’s Pillar Two rules, including GloBE income and effective tax rate calculations.
- Partner with finance and IT teams to align data collection, systems, and processes for Pillar Two compliance.
- Monitor local adoption of Pillar Two across APAC jurisdictions and assess its impact on the regional tax profile.
CbCR
- Oversee CbCR compliance and filings for all relevant jurisdictions in APAC.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of tax and financial data used for CbCR reporting.
- Collaborate with finance and other teams to align CbCR strategy and disclosure across entities.
Transfer pricing
- Oversee Group transfer pricing strategy, ensuring compliance with OECD guidelines and local regulations.
- Manage intercompany pricing policies, documentation, and annual local file/master file requirements.
- Support local and regional transfer pricing audits and defend policies as needed.
Tax Reporting and Forecasting
- Manage tax provisioning, reporting and effective tax rate forecasting in compliance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Collaborate with finance and FP&A teams to support annual tax reporting requirements or other reporting requirements, including U.S. reporting requirements of shareholder.
- Identify and implement tax process improvements and automation opportunities.
People & Stakeholder Engagement
- Mentor more junior colleagues, providing technical guidance and career development support.
- Partner with senior management, business leaders, and external advisors to ensure tax considerations are embedded in business decisions.
- Communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders in clear, commercial terms.

Qualifications & Experience required:
- Professional tax qualification (e.g., Chartered Accountant, CTA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 12–15 years of relevant tax experience, with significant exposure to M&A and cross-border investment structuring.
- Proven leadership experience in a multinational corporate or Big 4 environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of Singapore and international tax regimes
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
