Job Description

The GR&D organization is looking for a Director of Engineering for Bose Japan office. The Director reports to the VP, GR&D Automotive Engineering. The Director role accountabilities include:

Consumer Centricity - Develop deep relationships with customers (working level managers, mid-level, and executives).  Develop a deep understanding of customer requirements, processes, expectations, and preferences.
Collaboration with Regional Business Leader - Build a close, trusting, strong relationship with the Regional Business Leader and together ensure account success in all dimensions (P&L, Concepting, Selling, Program Delivery, Event Planning, CSAT, etc.)
Regional Portfolio Management  Regional program and project governance, resource planning, affordability, resource sufficiency, and cost control.
Follow Global Processes, Practices, and Tools – Ensure regional engineering organization follows global development policies, standards, and procedures as defined by engineering CoEs like Amplifier, Audio, Software, etc.
Program Leadership, Direction, and Delivery - Lead multiple programs simultaneously, ensuring successful outcomes (on time, on quality, on budget, on scope). Apply critical thinking and innovative tactics to deliver all projects consistently and to ensure business metrics are met.  Develop and maintain program plans, schedules, and resource allocation plans.
Risk management – Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program risks, including operational, financial, and reputational risks.  Collaborate with ASD Business and Engineering leaders to mitigate and eliminate these risks.
Change Management – Identify and manage change requests effectively.  Negotiate program trade-offs with ASD Business and Engineering Leaders across multiple programs and prioritize effectively.
Technical knowledge and problem solving - make informed plans and drive effective, timely decisions, challenge the technical team to think differently, and communicate effectively.
Process Improvements – Identify and drive improvement and transformation initiatives that drive business growth, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall customer experience.  Continually improving our processes to improve Investment Productivity
Talent Development – Develop and grow a high-performing cross-functional engineering team including management and leadership development and technical capability.  Develop Management and Technical bench strength to enable strong succession plans.  Build an engaged, motivated team.
Improve employee engagement - Improve employee engagement and satisfaction by making it easier and faster to get work done, drive clear accountability and clear line of sight for contribution to the business.
Bose Platforms - During the selling process, ensure Bose leverages Bose Platforms. (SW, HW, Headrest structures, Customer Tuning Tools, etc.)
Strategic Planning and Alignment - Develop a deep understanding of GR&D and ASD’s strategic plans, goals, and objectives to represent Bose interests and with the Customer.
Support Regional Steering Committee - Collaborate with RSC stakeholders to develop and prioritize program initiatives that drive business value.
Liaison with support groups - Monitor activities outside of GR&D and ASD Business including Quality, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure effective problem solving for communication with customers as needed.
Represent GR&D and ASD Business - point of contact to engage with internal teams Research, SE&A, GR&D ASD, ASD-Business, etc.
