Job Description

Team Summary 

The Cross-Border team is a global team that plays a pivotal role in the company, focusing on the development and execution of Cross-Border business strategies. The Cross-Border team leverages data, insights, and best practices from across travel, e-Commerce and emerging verticals to develop and deploy initiatives, working across functions to significantly enhance Visa’s Cross-Border performance.

Reporting to the Head of Cross-Border, Asia Pacific, this role will be pivotal in redefining Visa’s Asia Pacific Cross-Border strategy and bringing it to market. 

What a Director of Cross-Border, AP does at Visa: 

Strategy Development: Support the development of Visa’s e-Commerce & New Verticals strategy for the region, designing effective strategic initiatives that focus on growing e-Commerce volumes and identifying and unlocking prioritized Cross-Border rich verticals that drive net new incremental opportunity for Visa (e.g. Gaming, Education). 

Partnership Development: Identify partnership opportunities across prioritized vertical ecosystems, working alongside markets and AEs to incubate new opportunities that drive preference to pay with Visa and deliver incremental opportunities for Visa. 

Solutioning and Ideation: Understand the Visa solution suite and capabilities, ideating with Product teams to further enrich the proposition and drive Visa relevance and preference for ecosystem players in prioritized New Verticals. 

Cross Functional Project Management: Drive the program management of the New Verticals strategy in the region across targeted initiatives, fostering productive partnerships with market and cross functional teams to drive Cross-Border performance outcomes for Visa. 

This role will be involved in shaping the strategy and execution of e-Commerce & New Verticals initiatives such as: 

  • Defining strategies for targeting e-Commerce and Cross border rich verticals and segments such as Gaming and Education; to proactively identify, protect and grow the Cross Border portfolio 

  • Partnering with AEs to incubate new partnership opportunities within prioritized New Verticals, pitching in Visa’s solutions and capabilities to drive Visa’s relevance for these ecosystem players and increase Visa share 

  • Partnering with Regional Acquirer teams to design programs that open acceptance in new markets for prioritized verticals, to capture net new volumes for Visa 

  • Engage in solution ideation with Product colleagues, enriching the proposition for New Vertical players to strengthen Visa’s play in these industry verticals 

  • Supporting the growth of our Clients’ Cross border and New Verticals business through development and deployment of new tools, packaged capabilities, bundles and set-plays 

  • Analyzing the impact of shifting Cross Border volumes across AP markets and merchants to drive insights that inform the right responses to shifting market dynamics 

  • Ideating on enhancements to e-Commerce products value propositions with Product, VAS and Pricing, and working with market teams on go to market execution 

  • Driving a structured approach to scale payment success and authorization improvement, working across merchants, issuers, acquirers, and in coordination with multiple solutions and delivery teams such as Client Services, Risk Solutions, Digital & Processing Solutions, and Advisory 

  • Defining cross-functional operating models and driving accountability with functional and market teams to deliver key initiatives. This role will need to collaborate across market and regional Sales, Product, Value Added Services, Marketing, and Advisory teams 

  • Assisting in RFP responses focused on New Verticals and developing pitch materials  

Qualifications

Successful candidates will be highly adaptable, possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and able to effectively manage multiple sub-teams and workstreams. This role requires a high degree of comfort with ambiguity, creativity, and the ability to work across a series of stakeholders in different market settings and functional roles to understand client and market needs and Cross-Border capabilities. In addition, the candidate must be highly collaborative, strategic, analytical, customer oriented and bring a structured and disciplined approach to designing and implementing Cross-Border initiatives across the region. 

What you will need: 

  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in product management, strategy, consulting, innovation or partnership development 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; MBA or Master’s Degree preferred 

  • In-depth knowledge of payment industry products, services and technologies, eCommerce and Cross-Border business 

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and influencing skills 

  • Strong analytical skill set and able to drive analysis of data independently 

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment with global, regional and market teams 

  • Strong sense of ownership and project management skills 

  • Ability to evolve strategy based on research, data, and industry trends 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal, and written communications skills - knowledge of other Asian languages a plus 

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Product, VAS, Advisory, Marketing, Client Services
