Job Summary

We are looking for a Director, Client Portfolio Management to join in our Singapore office. Client Portfolio Managers work in close partnership and coordination with investment teams and sales as well as other stakeholders within the organization as subject matter experts, focusing on business development, client servicing and product development for certain investment strategies.

This position will preferably be located in Singapore, although candidates in Hong Kong will also be considered. The role will support all Barings private credit strategies (portfolio finance, infrastructure debt, asset-based finance, private placements, direct lending, capital solutions) with a primary focus on portfolio finance and infrastructure debt.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with product management, investment teams and sales teams to drive new and existing business development in private credit strategies (and portfolio finance and infrastructure debt in particular) in the APAC region.
  • Develop a close partnership with investment teams to deepen knowledge and expertise and be effective as a portfolio manager proxy in interactions with sales colleagues and clients. This will include:
    • Attending investment team meetings
    • Serving as an active participant in meetings with current and prospective clients
    • Responding in a timely manner to client and prospect requests
  • Communicate investment strategies internally and externally with the goal of growing assets under management
  • Help develop, maintain and prepare marketing and servicing materials for the team. This will include pitch books as well as scheduled and ad-hoc updates on private credit markets and specific aspects of an investment strategy (e.g. monthly commentaries, market reviews, market outlook, performance reviews, portfolio positioning etc).
  • Review and provide strategy specific responses to RFPs and DDQs
  • Identify, participate in and coordinate new product development and positioning initiatives
  • Create thought leadership materials in cooperation with investment teams and Barings Marketing staff

Qualifications

  • University degree
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience, ideally in an investment specialist/product strategist/client portfolio manager or similar role.
  • A passion for financial markets. Private credit markets experience a strong plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including an ability to assess and convey market dynamics, portfolio strategy and risk factors
  • An aptitude for public speaking in a variety of settings and audience sizes
  • An entrepreneurial drive and desire to be a team player
  •  Strong organizational, facilitation and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in Chinese is required to communicate with Chinese-speaking clients in APAC
  •  Willingness to travel regularly within the APAC region.
