About BlackRock

BlackRock is a global leader in investment management, risk management and advisory services for institutional and retail clients. The firm manages $15+ trillion in assets on behalf of investors worldwide and serves clients across a broad range of strategies, including public and private markets. BlackRock helps clients meet their goals through a comprehensive platform that includes separate accounts, mutual funds, iShares® (exchange-traded funds), and alternative investment solutions. The firm also provides risk management and technology services through BlackRock Solutions®.

About the Team:

This team supports BlackRock’s global alternatives operations platform responsible for delivering exceptional client experience across $300B+ in Alternative and Private Markets strategies (“alternatives”), including Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Multi-Alternatives. The team operates across six global locations and partners closely with investment, product, sales, and operations stakeholders to support the full investor lifecycle.

Team responsibilities span across client onboarding, investor servicing, reporting and communications, operational oversight, third-party service provider management, and the creation of high-quality client deliverables. The team also helps drive process improvement, automation, data strategy, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance scalability, operational efficiency, and client outcomes.

Position overview:

We are seeking a Director to lead APAC client servicing for BlackRock’s alternatives businesses. As alternatives continue to grow across the region, this role will support the development and management over a multilingual team that provides local expertise, process ownership, and end-to-end support across the client lifecycle.

The Director will act as the primary APAC liaison to BlackRock’s global operating model, providing strategic oversight of onboarding, servicing, operating model design, and risk management. Working closely with business, product, legal, compliance, and operations partners, the role will help scale the business, drive operational excellence, and deliver an exceptional client experience.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of alternatives client servicing in one of BlackRock’s most important growth regions, positioned at the intersection of client experience, onboarding, operations, reporting, and process innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Regional Leadership & Operating Model

  • Lead the APAC alternatives client servicing team and build and develop a multilingual team.
  • Serve as the in-region link between APAC and the team’s global operational footprint, leveraging our multi-office center of excellence service model that allows us to deliver at scale.
  • Deliver alternatives operational expertise timely to our APAC clients, enhancing the overall client experience.
  • Act as the clear regional point of contact for Client Business, Capital Formation, and Product Strategy on alternatives operational questions. Take on servicing coordination so these internal teams can spend more time on business development.
  • Set clear handoffs, service standards, and escalation paths between regional teams and our global support model.
  • Represent APAC client needs in global forums to shape priorities and platform investment inclusive of APAC region considerations.

Fundraising & Due Diligence Support

  • Work with the global team on APAC fundraising materials; produce and review regional and local-language versions for client audiences.
  • Manage APAC due diligence requests in region. Coordinate data room access, RFPs and DDQs, and draft and review APAC-specific content before it goes to clients.
  • Support Product Strategy and Capital Formation in-time-zone for client driven due diligence processes.

Investor Onboarding & AML/KYC

  • Guide APAC investors through onboarding, working with the global team on subscription documents, AML/KYC, FATCA/CRS validation and investing-entity setup.
  • Translate Luxembourg and Cayman fund-domicile KYC requirements into practical guidance for APAC investor types, including sovereign wealth funds, public pensions, insurers, banks, family offices and wealth channels. Set expectations before documents are submitted.
  • Support clients with digital subscription and investor portal onboarding.

Investor Servicing & Reporting

  • Act as the in-region contact for investor servicing questions, including capital calls, distributions, transfers, wire updates and statements. Coordinate resolution with the global team.
  • Drive AML/KYC refreshes and FATCA/tax remediation for APAC investors by working with clients in their time zone and language.
  • Review client reporting requests and triage regulatory or local-market needs from nice-to-haves; pushing back where requests aren't justified or can be met with existing standard reporting.
  • Set APAC local regulatory reporting requirements and work with the global team to deliver them consistently across jurisdictions.
  • Produce and review in-region reporting and client materials where local expertise or language is needed, and check quality before anything goes to clients.
  • Deliver client-update presentations with Product Strategy and Client Businesses, in the appropriate local language, as needed.

Scale, Innovation & Process Excellence

  • Find recurring APAC client needs and work with the global team to turn them into standard solutions instead of one-off regional work products.
  • Partner with technology and data teams to use AI and automation across onboarding, reporting and servicing.
  • Help shape global initiatives so they account for APAC regional, language and regulatory differences.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Alternatives experience at an asset manager, fund administrator or institutional allocator, and 12+ years of overall financial services experience.
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams, including working across locations and time zones with a global operating model.
  • Experience working with centralized operations or centers of excellence, including setting handoffs, service standards and escalation paths.
  • Hands-on experience with investor onboarding, AML/KYC and FATCA/CRS, including working directly with MLROs, Compliance, transfer agents and fund administrators.
  • Working knowledge of Luxembourg and Cayman fund-domicile KYC/AML requirements, and the ability to explain them to different APAC investor types.
  • Detailed knowledge of closed-end, LP drawdown fund structures, capital activity (capital calls, distributions, transfers) and investor servicing.
  • Familiarity with private fund legal documents, including PPMs, LPAs, subscription documents and side letters.
  • Strong understanding of the APAC alternatives regulatory landscape, including jurisdiction-specific reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Enough reporting expertise to judge client requests, tell genuine regulatory or local-market needs apart from nice-to-haves, and push back with confidence where appropriate.
  • Hands-on ability to produce and review client reporting, due diligence responses and presentation materials, with high attention to quality and detail.
  • Infrastructure (debt or equity) and hedge fund experience preferred.
  • Experience with eFront, investor portals and CRM platforms (Salesforce/MSD) preferred.
  • Track record of influencing senior stakeholders across investment, product, compliance and client-facing teams, both regionally and globally.
  • Ability to present to senior client audiences and explain complex regulatory and operational topics clearly.
  • Experience leading process standardization and technology-enabled change, including AI and automation.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required, Mandarin preferred
