WHO WE ARE

Optiver is a global market maker founded in Amsterdam, with offices in London, Chicago, Austin, New York, Sydney, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei and Mumbai. Established in 1986, today we are a leading liquidity provider, with close to 2,000 employees in offices around the world, united in our commitment to improve the market through competitive pricing, execution and risk management. By providing liquidity on multiple exchanges across the world in various financial instruments we participate in the safeguarding of healthy and efficient markets. We provide liquidity to financial markets using our own capital, at our own risk, trading a wide range of products: listed derivatives, cash equities, ETFs, bonds and foreign currencies.

We are looking for a Data Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of our data platforms. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, platform reliability, and operations, with a strong focus on automation, change management, and incident response.

You will take ownership of data deployment processes, job orchestration, and incident management, enabling teams to deliver high-quality, reliable data at scale. Experience in commodities or trading environments is highly preferred, but not mandatory.

At Optiver, AI is in our DNA. Every day you will both use AI to accelerate your impact on trading outcomes.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own data change and release management, including daily, backfill, and ad-hoc data deployments, with strong security and environment segregation.

  • Manage configuration, scheduling, and operational reliability of data jobs, defining standards and architectural guidelines to minimize risk and errors.

  • Lead data incident management, including monitoring, validation, alerting, investigation, and resolution of data issues.

  • Act as the first point of contact for data production issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems end-to-end.

  • Build automation and tooling to standardize operational processes, improving scalability, reliability, and efficiency.

WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for a skilled Data SRE with:

  • Min 3 years of experience where the primary responsibility involves working with data. This could include roles such as data SRE, data engineer, or similar positions

  • At least 3 years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling, and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Scala or others.)

  • A passion for automation and continual improvement, with a track record of identifying high value automation opportunities.

  • Experience leveraging AI programming tools to accelerate your impact

  • Intense focus on improving system availability and resilience through testing, standardisation and automation.

  • Ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues across teams and geographies.

  • Strong communication skills and genuine curiosity about markets and how data drives trading outcomes.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

You’ll join a culture of collaboration and excellence, where you’ll be surrounded by curious thinkers and creative problem solvers. Driven by a passion for continuous improvement, you’ll thrive in a supportive, high-performing environment alongside talented colleagues, working collectively to tackle some of the most complex problems in the financial markets.

In return for your expertise, you will be offered a competitive salary package as well as access to a range of Optiver perks, including:

  • The chance to work alongside best-in-class professionals

  • Competitive remuneration, including an attractive bonus structure and additional leave entitlements

  • Training, mentorship and personal development opportunities

  • Gym membership plus weekly in-house chair massages

  • Daily breakfast, lunch and snacks

Optiver is committed to diversity and inclusion, and it is hardwired through every stage of our hiring process. We encourage applications from candidates from any and all backgrounds, and we welcome requests for reasonable adjustments during the process to ensure that you can best demonstrate your abilities.
