About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist Manager to lead our Payments Optimization team. This role will lead the team in developing advanced algorithms to optimize payments, and will be a key strategic partner to Product, Engineering, and Commercial leaders - identifying opportunities to improve payments performance and drive product adoption at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Lead data science teams to drive multi-objective payments optimization - ensuring that AWX optimizes payment conversion rates, fraud risk, and transaction costs

• Provide technical thought leadership on various optimization algorithms (e.g. contextual bandits) and experimentation techniques (e.g. A/B testing, causal inference)
  

• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop tools and infrastructure to enable optimization at scale
  

• Partner with Product, Engineering, Risk, and other cross-functional teams to inform and influence product strategy and investment decisions
  

• Clearly and persuasively communicate data insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring your findings influence stakeholders at all levels.
  

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or related disciplines.

• 5+ years of industry experience in data science or applied ML; 2+ years in a management role

• Proven experience in experimentation, machine learning, and statistical modeling to drive data-informed decisions

• Experience in deploying ML systems to production is a big plus

• Proficient in SQL and Python

• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses to executives and cross-functional teams to influence strategy.

• Experience in technology, financial services, or a high-growth environment is highly advantageous.
