SimplifyNext is a Singapore-headquartered digital engineering firm, with offices in Thailand and Malaysia, working across three converged areas: agentic AI, AI-enabled application modernisation, and intelligent automation.

We bring strong business process consulting together with deep technology skills and modern delivery practices – product-centric, agile and AI-assisted. We build bespoke applications and AI systems, and we go deep on the platforms our clients run on, including Microsoft, AWS, ServiceNow, Databricks and UiPath. That combination of engineering depth and platform depth is what our clients come to us for.

We build and modernise the systems people depend on daily. Our 300+ practitioners are multi-disciplinary by design – business consultants, software engineers, architects, AI engineers and designers working on the same delivery, not handing off between silos. We focus on delivering outcomes for clients, building strong careers for our people, and staying ahead of the technology curve. We hire because we are growing.

The Data Migration Engineer is responsible for planning and executing the end-to-end transformation and migration of large, complex datasets across differing source and target platforms. This role carries direct responsibility for data extraction, validation, and reconciliation within high-scrutiny, government-linked environments - safeguarding data integrity, traceability, and audit compliance throughout every phase of the migration lifecycle.

What You'll Do

1. Migration Stratefgy & Goverance

  • Plan and strategize the end-to-end data transformation and migration approach for large, complex datasets across differing source and target platforms.
  • Establish and enforce data migration standards, governance, and documentation across project implementations.

2. Data Extraction, Validation & Reconciliation

  • Lead the extraction, validation, and reconciliation of production data, working directly within high-scrutiny, government-linked environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data discrepancies arising during migration and validation.

3. Cutover & Execution

  • Coordinate mock runs, trial loads, and final cutover execution, ensuring data integrity is maintained throughout.

4. Compliance, Traceability & Performance

  • Ensure strict data traceability and compliance with audit requirements throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance and availability during and after migration, ensuring service levels are met and implementing improvements when needed.

5. Stakeholder & Technical Engagement

  • Engage stakeholders and application teams, explaining technical decisions and reviewing data models to ensure migration approach aligns with system design.

Who You Are

Must-Have

  • Proven track record of delivering data migration projects in a public sector or other high-scrutiny, government-linked context.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Python and ETL tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with native cloud migration services such as AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Azure Migration Services.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead mock runs, trial loads, and cutover execution while maintaining strict data integrity.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex data discrepancies during migration and validation.
  • Must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, as this role requires direct access to sensitive production data.

Good-to-Have

  • Experience working with database performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with data governance, audit, and compliance frameworks in regulated or public sector environments.
  • Relevant cloud or data certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
  • Experience engaging directly with stakeholders and application teams on technical data model decisions.

This role is not a fit if:

  • You are not eligible to work with sensitive production data as a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • You prefer low-scrutiny environments over rigorous audit, traceability, and compliance requirements.
  • You're uncomfortable troubleshooting complex, high-pressure data discrepancies during live cutover windows.
  • You see documentation and governance standards as optional rather than core to the job.
