Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced counsel to join the Netflix legal team in Singapore. The role will be responsible for handling various B2B commercial agreements relating to Netflix’s various growth areas such as advertising, consumer products, and marketing/brand partnerships in SEA. The role will report locally.
Responsibilities include:

  • Manage end-to-end drafting, negotiation, and execution of a wide range of B2B commercial agreements supporting Netflix’s growth initiatives in SEA, including consumer products and marketing/brand partnerships.

  • Provide comprehensive legal support to Netflix’s advertising business in SEA, including drafting and negotiating agreements with advertising agencies, advertisers, measurement partners, and other third-party service providers.

  • Serve as one of the primary legal partners to the advertising, consumer products, and marketing/brand partnerships teams, providing practical, business-oriented advice on deal structures, risk allocation, rights, approvals, sponsorship structures, and new ad products.

  • Provide clear and pragmatic guidance on SEA advertising regulations, including consumer protection, fair labeling, promotions, and industry standards, and translate regulatory requirements into actionable business recommendations.

  • Advise on usage rights, restrictions, and approvals related to Netflix’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, logos, content clips, talent likeness, and brand assets, in connection with commercial and marketing activities.

  • Collaborate closely with global and regional legal teams to align local transactions with Netflix’s broader business objectives, templates, and policies, while appropriately localizing legal approaches for the SEA markets.

  • Support the continuous improvement of contracting processes, templates, and playbooks, helping enable efficient deal-making in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will have 7+ years of relevant legal experience, either in-house and/or at a leading law firm, with substantial hands-on experience supporting advertising, intellectual property licensing, and brand/marketing partnership transactions, ideally within the media, entertainment, technology, or consumer-facing industries.

The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical, and business-oriented advice for a wide range of stakeholders. Given the highly cross-functional nature of the role, strong collaboration, influence, and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Proven experience drafting, negotiating, and managing complex B2B commercial agreements, including advertising, sponsorship, marketing, consumer products, and other strategic partnership agreements, with a bar membership in good standing in at least one jurisdiction.

  • Strong understanding of advertising regulations and industry standards, with the ability to advise on compliance in a practical, business-enabling manner.

  • Solid working knowledge of intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, and brand usage, and experience advising on usage rights, restrictions, and approvals in commercial and marketing contexts.

  • Ability to exercise sound legal judgment and strong analytical skills in evaluating risks, proposing solutions, and balancing legal considerations with business objectives.

  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and meeting tight timelines.

  • Comfort working with global templates, policies, and stakeholders, and the ability to localize legal advice appropriately for the SEA markets.

  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to take on new or evolving areas, including emerging advertising products, technologies, and business models.

  • High standards of professional ethics, integrity, and discretion, and alignment with Netflix’s culture and values.(see Netflix’s culture memo)
