The Corporate Counsel manages complex legal matters, drafts and negotiates agreements, advises management, and ensures compliance with laws and regulations.
The Cummins Legal function provides a full range of legal services in support of Cummins Inc. and its consolidated businesses. Our Legal staff are located in the United States, United Kingdom, India, Australia, Brazil, China, Mexico and in select countries on the African continent, in the Middle East and in Central Asia. Through these various locations, we support our business throughout the world.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Responsible for handling a variety of complex legal matters or projects across a wide range of businesses and functions within Northeast Southeast Asia
- Lead lawyer supporting our Japan business and operations in country including management of the relationship between the Legal function and key business stakeholders
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements including master supply and service agreements, turnkey/ EPC agreements, tenders and regional supply addendums
- Ability to work cross functionally and with global teams and assist in development of legal strategies for the business.
- Responsible for project and matter management with limited supervision; exercise independent judgment and share in management of outside counsel relationships.
- Effectively manage multiple stakeholders with numerous concurrent projects, priorities and deadlines.
- Act as trusted advisor for mid to high level management; has strong grasp of business environment; effectively partner with stakeholders to identify and design needed improvements; provide legal as well as practical advice within the appropriate business context; understand and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Stay up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations and industry best practices, communicate obligations and deadlines to internal stakeholders, support development and implementation of processes and policies to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Influence or contribute to overall objectives and goals of the organization and provides support and leadership in legal function projects.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Law degree from accredited law school
- Japanese language skills (business level)

Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Law Degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Singapore
- 8+ years relevant experience – inhouse or law firm
- Japanese language skills
