To pursue its ambition to become a data-driven company, BOS is looking to empower each users of the organization with self-service reporting capabilities. As part of this data transformation, BOS has set-up an Hub & Spoke Organization: Data Hub is a central team managing the tools, governance, methodology and knowledge sharing among the various business Data Spoke from all departments (Finance, Risk, Compliance, HR, Marketing).

The Control and Metrics External Data Analyst will support the Chief Data Officer in delivering the Bank of Singapore Data Strategy. The strategy includes enterprise-wide implementation of the Hub & Spoke data organization (including External Data), Data Quality framework, the data science blueprint and will combine domain, organizational and industry skills with analytical tools and communication tactics, to help the Bank achieve low total cost of ownership (TCO) and rapid return on investment (ROI) for its Data and Innovation initiatives. 

Core activities:

  • External Data usage Management
    • Consolidate and maintain an inventory of external data points / categories and documenting where it flows internally for external compliance and optimization purposes
    • Consolidate and maintain an inventory of external data users on external data platforms and/or API
    • Design and create dashboard/s for billing analytics for major vendors (all products & services) to enable transparency and optimization opportunities
    • Working with internal stakeholders on external data exploration / trial etc.
    • Quarterly analysis on cost and usage
    • Proactively educate various teams around proper use of data and how utilization will impact compliance and commercial structure.
  • Managing External Data Initiatives
    • Evaluate impact on potential new solutions / products to maximise external data value
    • Regular interaction with Business Units to review external data costs optimization initiatives
    • Collaborating with Group including Procurement, Treasury, Technology & functions to maximise market data usage
    • Distribute analysis and reporting usage to establish key requirements and metrics to support negotiations or optimization initiatives
    • Backup negotiator and support for procuring external data contracts

Requirements

  • Highly organized self starter
  • Market Data knowledge within large financial institution or bank; with >5 years relevant experience
  • Banking industry data infrastructure knowledge
  • In depth knowledge of market data vendor landscape and use case requirements/scoping, including (not limited to) delivery mechanisms, non-display vs display data, derived data rights and data integrity
  • Attention to details and able to work under pressure
  • Proven ability to operate effectively at all levels in a collaborative manner
  • Strong analytical capabilities; ability to synthesize and distil large quantities of data to extract spending trends and insights
  • Good problem solving abilities
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerBI and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge in coding language will be a plus
