Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played PC game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

The Esports team is focused on delivering world-class competitive experiences for players and fans across Riot’s global esports ecosystem. As part of Riot Games’ partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF), we are bringing our games to the Esports Nation Cup (ENC) and Esports World Cup (EWC) in 2026.

As Competitive Operations for the APAC region, you will serve as the front-line competitive operations owner supporting teams, coaches, and tournament organizers participating in ENC and EWC. You will be the primary point of contact for competition-related questions, ensuring clarity, consistency, and confidence in competition rules, policies, and qualification processes.

In this role, you will operate at the intersection of competitive integrity, player experience, and external partnership delivery—helping teams navigate scheduling, scrimmage access, friendlies, and qualification requirements in the leadup to major global events. You will also provide on-the-ground competitive operations support in Riyadh during both ENC and EWC events.

This is a contract role through the end of the year, with required travel to Riyadh for event execution.

You will report to the Head of APAC Competitive Operations and work in close collaboration with Program Management, Product, Competitive Operations, Publishing, and the Esports World Cup Foundation.

Responsibilities:

Competitive Operations & Governance

  • Own competitive operations support for EWC and ENC national teams in the APAC region
  • Interpret, administer, and enforce competition rules, policies, and competitive guidelines in the context of national team competition
  • Maintain competitive integrity while applying sound judgment in novel or ambiguous situations

Front-Line Stakeholder Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for national team captains, coaches, and federation representatives regarding competition-related questions
  • Support tournament organizers and EWCF counterparts by providing timely guidance on rules, scheduling, and eligibility
  • Build trust-based relationships with stakeholders by being responsive, consistent, and solution-oriented

Scheduling

  • Guide national teams through competition windows, scheduling constraints, and approved formats for friendlies and scrimmages
  • Help teams identify viable scrimmage opportunities while ensuring compliance with Riot policies and event timelines
  • Coordinate closely with internal Riot teams to resolve scheduling conflicts or edge cases

Qualification & Readiness

  • Support the administration and communication of qualification processes relevant to ENC and EWC participation
  • Ensure teams clearly understand requirements, deadlines, and escalation paths
  • Partner with Program Management to track readiness and flag risks related to competitive eligibility or compliance

Live Event & On-Site Support

  • Travel to Riyadh to support competitive operations during ENC and EWC events
  • Act as an on-site competitive authority to help resolve issues quickly and calmly during live competition
  • Support match readiness, competitive rulings, and coordination with tournament operations staff

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Help document and refine competitive operations processes, FAQs, and guidance for national teams and partners
  • Identify recurring issues or points of confusion and proactively propose improvements to rules communication or workflows

Dispute Resolution & Integrity

  • Support dispute resolution and investigation efforts related to competitive issues, eligibility, or policy compliance
  •  Uphold competitive integrity, fairness, and professionalism in all competitive matters
Required Qualifications:
  • You have 3+ years of experience or advanced degree in esports or sports league administration, sports media entertainment, or equivalent
  • You have very good knowledge of League of Legends and/or VALORANT and its mechanics; you can tell if it’s a bug and not a feature
  • Strong knowledge of the esports industry in APAC
  • You know how esports tournaments work and you have robust knowledge about competition rules and operations
  • Direct experience working within Competitive Operations supporting a professional league
  • Experience in managing external vendors and contractors
  • You have experience in working closely with Product Leads
Desired Qualifications:
  • Fluency in additional language(s) beyond English, such as Vietnamese, Japanese, and Mandarin
  • You are very familiar with the Riot esports scene
  • You have a strong understanding of the esports and sports industry, league and team business
  • Strong esports knowledge of APAC Esports products, including LCP, VCT Pacific, and LCK

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise and a collaborative spirit that prioritizes the delight of players. We will look at your past studies and experience, but for this role, we also look for dedicated people with a personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this is the role for you!

Don’t forget to include a resume and cover letter. We receive a lot of applications, but we’ll notice a fun, well-written intro that shows us you take play seriously.
