Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team in a fast paced and challenging area? This is an unique opportunity for you to work in the Global Tax Operations team, where we maximize client's investments by either facilitating effective tax relief at source on client investment income or retrospectively reclaiming taxes from global tax authorities.
As a Client Tax Support - Associate within the Client-Aligned Tax Specialist team , you will be responsible to provide an end to end, client tailored tax support model for our premier clients. You will focus on proactive client facing tax support, tax strategy and tax risk management whilst ensuring that J.P. Morgan has a voice at market industry forums. You will own support for multiple clients in the Asia Pacific region, working closely with the rest of the Global Tax Operations team and other stakeholders.
Job responsibilities:

  • Serve as a centralized point of contact for all complex and technical tax issues to support our client's tax servicing needs
  • Lead the Tax component of service reviews and other meetings with the client
  • Leverage tax expertise to ensure that the client's interests are represented and understood throughout the business
  • Have a deep understanding of the client's business, structure and tax strategy to ensure all entitled tax benefits are received in order to maximise tax efficiency
  • Ensure close collaboration with the Sub Custodian network and the internal Network Management Group
  • Monitor tax developments across all markets and communicate specific impact/consequences in a concise, factual manner and provide support to the client through the change process
  • Liaise with other J.P. Morgan operations team where necessary and provide assistance with new market entry, expansion, account/fund restructures, transitions, and legal entity conversions
  • Ensure that clients receive a premier service regarding outstanding/expiring tax documentation, relief at source, retrospective reclaims, capital gains tax, financial transaction tax, and tax regulatory reporting
  • Represent J.P. Morgan on relevant Industry Associations and voice client concerns and interests and communicate lobbing efforts conducted by J.P. Morgan with clients
  • Review operational tax processed to identify areas for enhancement, escalate tax risks and participate in resolution
  • Assist in client tax account reviews and ad-hoc projects across the wider Tax Operations team


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years of work experience in financial sectors, accounting firms or other professional institutions
  • Able to discuss experience of client service and relationship management communicating complex issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be able to speak Mandarin in business circumstances
  • Demonstrate your in-depth operational tax experience within financial services, specifically global custody or investment banking
  • Effective internal and external communication skills and problem-solving experience
  • Possesses risk awareness and operational control experience within financial services
  • Prior experience in process improvement projects, where you clearly articulate ideas, concepts and procedural changes to clients
  • Self driven and able to work autonomously
  • Proven experience within an arena where accuracy is critical within strict deadlines


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Strong data management skills will be considered to be an advantage
  • Understanding of custodian business or have tax background will also be a plus
