Main Responsibilities
Provide fundamental analysis of the Chinese oil market to oil trading desks.
Drive data collection and provide strategic market intelligence/insights related to oil products traded at Gunvor, and macro-economic analysis of China, including government policies and its impact on the global oil markets.
Develop the China product Supply and Demand models by leveraging on existing data stored in Gunvor’s database, tracking oil products flows and proactively seek new sources of market data.
Contribute towards developing the existing China Petroleum Supply & Demand models through collection of economic data and information pertaining to refining capacities and yields, analysis of petrochemicals and energy policies relating to oil exploration, refining and marketing.
Work closely with Oil Analysts and Database Analysts in Singapore and Geneva to maintain databases to enhance information tracking and develop processes to implement automated approaches to maximize database functionalities.
Develop data dashboards using PowerBI to display and share information with traders
Any other ad-hoc assignments assigned by the Manager
Profile
The individual should have the following experience:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Engineering/Sciences
3-5 Years of experience in the oil industry (trading, refining, research, consulting etc.), with established working relationships with Chinese oil majors or teapots preferred
Must be articulate in oral and written English and Mandarin communication and possess good verbal and written presentation skills
Inquisitive and meticulous with strong analytical skills and good knowledge of databases
Competency in Microsoft office tools including Excel and PowerBI. Python coding knowledge a plus.
Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team player
Ideal candidate must be highly organized, possess strong interpersonal skills
Strong control mindset and organization skills
Ability to work under pressure
