About the Role

As a Business Development Manager at Degica, you’ll play a key role in accelerating the growth of Komoju, our flagship payments platform used by merchants across Japan and internationally. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has a strategic mindset, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves to drive both pipeline generation and deal execution.

You will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new merchants and partners, developing outbound strategies, qualifying inbound leads, and helping refine our go-to-market motion. You’ll work closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Leadership to define where we win and execute on how we grow. This is a high-impact role for someone who is ready to take ownership and grow with the company.

What You’ll Do
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities across priority verticals (e.g., digital content, SaaS, video-gaming, retail)
  • Lead both inbound and outbound outreach strategies to grow Komoju’s merchant base across APAC, EMEA, the Americas, and other key regions.
  • Partner with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Product, Compliance, Partnerships and more) to create compelling merchant-facing narratives
  • Act as the voice of prospective merchants, providing feedback to improve product, pricing, and positioning
  • Own the full business development cycle from prospecting through negotiation and onboarding
  • Support the development of scalable sales playbooks and outreach templates
  • Represent Degica at industry events, webinars, or merchant-facing meetings

RequirementsWhat We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or solution sales—ideally in fintech, SaaS, or e-commerce.
  • Knowledge of payment infrastructure, cross-border payments, or subscription billing models
  • Proven ability to build and manage a sales pipeline and deliver against targets
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) and outbound prospecting platforms (e.g., Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to both local and global merchants
  • Comfort working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with cross-functional collaboration
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and strategic thinking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Nice to Have
  • Experience selling or partnering with e-commerce merchants, payment service providers, or platforms
  • Experience working in or with startups, or internationally-oriented teams

Benefits
    • Salary increase based on annual performance evaluation
    • Profit sharing (paid twice a year)
    • Hybrid system that allows both remote and office work
    • Language training (subsidized lesson fees of 10,000 to 20,000 yen/month)
    • Self-study support (up to 100,000 yen per year)
