Business Development & Account Manager (Hybrid), APAC | Singapore

Some of the most ambitious companies in Asia Pacific are looking beyond their home markets - and the biggest opportunities are in places where payments are anything but simple. That is exactly where EBANX comes in. We are the global payments platform built for emerging markets, and we help international businesses sell to hundreds of millions of consumers who were previously out of reach.

We are looking for a Singapore-based Business Development Manager to open that door for APAC-headquartered companies. This is a hunter role at heart: you will spend most of your time finding the right accounts, building pipelines from scratch, and closing first contracts with strategic and enterprise-tier merchants. But you are not the kind of salesperson who disappears after the signature. The merchants you bring in stay close to you through launch and their next growth cycles, and you get to see - and share in - what happens when a company you believed in starts processing real volume in markets it never reached before.

If you like big, complex, multi-country deals, enjoy being the first person in the room, and want your work to visibly move a company's global footprint, this role will suit you.

What you'll do:

  • Build a new merchant pipeline from the ground up across high-growth digital verticals, focusing on APAC companies with a clear ambition to expand into emerging markets. This is where the majority of your week goes - and where the biggest wins come from.
  • Run the full deal cycle, from first outreach through qualification, negotiation and signed contract, with disciplined pipeline management every step of the way.
  • Navigate complex merchant organizations: the accounts you target often require parallel conversations with regional HQ, country business teams, legal, finance and treasury. You map the landscape, find the champions, and keep every thread moving.
  • Own the strategy for multi-country opportunities, including phased launch approaches, and partner with our legal, tax, compliance and product experts to unblock deals and shape solutions merchants actually need.
  • Work with EBANX teams around the world to bring local expertise into your deals and connect merchant headquarters with the right people on the ground in each market.
  • Keep a clear, up-to-date view of your pipeline so you and the team always know where each opportunity stands and what comes next.
  • See your deals through to real volume. After signing, you stay on top of integration, ramp-up and the first expansion conversations - new markets, new payment methods, new products - and keep building the relationship as part of your account responsibilities.

What you bring:

  • Fluent English. An additional Asian language: Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Malay, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai or similar - is a big plus.
  • 7+ years in business development or new-logo sales, with a proven record of closing net-new enterprise accounts - not just managing existing portfolios.
  • Deep knowledge of the payments landscape: processing flows, card schemes, local alternative payment methods, chargeback and fraud dynamics, and how these differ across emerging markets.
  • Experience running long, complex sales cycles - multi-department approvals, multi-country regulatory and tax considerations, and displacing an incumbent provider.
  • Comfort working independently on greenfield accounts: you can build a relationship from zero, develop a commercial thesis, and drive to close without a warm handoff.
  • Experience carrying an account past signature — you have owned integration, ramp and early upsell for merchants you closed, and you know what it takes to turn a contract into processed volume.
  • A strong analytical mindset: you use data to prioritize your pipeline, build a business case, and challenge assumptions — internally and externally.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience living or working across APAC markets strongly preferred — comfort with cross-cultural and cross-timezone commercial dynamics is essential.
  • Flexibility to overlap with colleagues and merchants in other time zones when deals require it.

What we're looking for beyond the resume:

  • Hunter mentality with strategic depth. You are energized by opening new accounts and building pipeline from scratch — that is where you'll spend most of your energy, and where you'll have the most fun. But you also know that the biggest deals — multi-country, multi-year — are won with a thoughtful, multi-stakeholder strategy, not activity volume alone. You know when to push and when to play the longer game.
  • A knack for unblocking. Legal bandwidth, onboarding friction, business-case review loops, tax questions across markets — you have met these before and know how to get past them, whether by escalating smartly or restructuring the commercial approach.
  • Curiosity about emerging markets. Emerging markets are where EBANX lives, and you find them exciting rather than daunting. You can build a thesis for why a specific APAC merchant should expand into a given market, and you are comfortable prospecting for destinations where the merchant is still early in its journey.
  • Vertical credibility. You have real depth in at least two digital-first verticals — you understand their business model, unit economics, seasonal dynamics and payment complexity — and can translate that into a pitch that lands.
  • Resilience and composure in ambiguity. Deals stall. Merchants deprioritize markets. Approvals take longer than expected. You stay productive under uncertainty and keep momentum without burning the relationship.
  • Organised and transparent about your pipeline. You like having a clear view of where every deal stands and what happens next, and you're comfortable sharing that picture openly with the team.
  • Ownership through activation. You don't consider a deal done at contract signing. You track integration timelines and volume ramp, spot the first expansion opportunity, and raise your hand early if a signed account isn't converting.
  • A natural collaborator. You thrive in a team where intelligence is shared and colleagues back each other's accounts. You win alone, but you grow accounts together.

Why this role is exciting:

  • You will be the first point of contact between fast-growing APAC companies and some of the world's most promising consumer markets - and your deals will have a visible impact on where those companies go next.
  • You will work on complex, multi-country opportunities that stretch your commercial, strategic and cross-cultural skills in ways few sales roles do.
  • You will be part of a global, high-energy team in a company that has been shaping emerging-market payments for more than a decade.
  • This role is based in our Singapore office. We value in-person collaboration and work on a hybrid model; this is not a remote-only role.

EBANX offers:

  • Very competitive base salary plus a commission plan that rewards both new business and existing account growth;
  • EBANX Skills: budget for workshops and courses;
  • EBANX Education: financial support for graduate, and MBA programs so you can develop important skills for your career;
  • EBANX Flexible: Birthday Day Off and other perks.
