Business Analyst (Data Migration project experience) (1 year contract)

Leads business data readiness for a data migration project, including requirements gathering, data cleansing coordination, quality issue tracking, stakeholder and customer communications, cutover planning, validation, hypercare, and audit-ready documentation. The role translates technical findings into business actions, coordinates UAT and readiness activities, supports transition and go-live stabilization, and manages risks, dependencies, approvals, and issue resolution across business and technical teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Business Data Readiness & Requirements
- Gather and document business data requirements, readiness criteria, and cleansing needs.
- Work closely with Business SMEs to define ownership, usage, and criticality of key data elements.
- Highlight business impacts of data gaps, legacy constraints, and readiness risks.
Data Quality & Cleansing Coordination
- Drive business-owned cleansing activities and track progress across teams.
- Maintain business data issue logs, exception registers, and sign-off records.
- Convert technical data findings into clear, actionable business insights.
Customer Communication & Coordination
- Coordinate communication to customers and customer-facing teams regarding data freeze periods, migration timelines, and readiness activities.
- Prepare customer-facing FAQs, communication notices, and impact summaries.
- Track customer-raised issues and ensure timely resolution and updates.
Transition & Cutover Support
- Contribute to the Business Transition Plan covering tasks, dependencies, and approvals.
- Prepare business cutover documentation including checklists, validation scripts, and readiness reports.
- Act as the business representative during cutover, documenting progress, risks, and decisions.
Post-Go-Live Stabilisation
- Support business teams in validating live data during hypercare.
- Maintain stabilisation dashboards, issue logs, and reconciliation summaries.
- Coordinate communication and follow-up actions for customer or business-raised issues.
Documentation Excellence
- Produce clear, structured documentation such as:
- Business Readiness Packs
- Data Cleansing Playbooks
- Customer Communication Plans
- Cutover Runbooks (Business Section)
- Hypercare and Lessons Learned reports
- Ensure all materials are version-controlled and audit-ready.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Degree in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Readiness, Requirements Management, or related roles, preferably within large-scale transformation or data migration projects.
- Proven experience in eliciting, documenting, and managing business, functional, and data-related requirements across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience supporting data migration initiatives by defining business rules, data requirements, validation criteria, and user readiness activities.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear requirements and work closely with technical teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Experience in transformation, system implementation, migration, or cutover-driven projects preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage, influence, and drive alignment across diverse business functions.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess data readiness, identify gaps, and recommend practical solutions.
- Business Analysis expertise in process mapping, requirements gathering, impact assessment, and solution validation.
- Project management skills in coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT), business readiness activities, and deployment planning.
- Good understanding of data migration concepts, data quality, and data governance principles; hands-on technical migration experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Savvy in the application of emerging technologies and digital solutions to support business transformation initiatives.
- Proactive, resourceful, and an effective facilitator with the ability to engage stakeholders across various business domains.
- Self-managing, detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver high-quality work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal, consultative, and conflict-resolution capabilities.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to perform under pressure while meeting tight project timelines.
