Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support daily General Ledger (GL) operations, including journal entry postings, with emphasis on financial control and governance
- Work with team members to ensure high‑quality execution of GL activities and adherence to established controls and process standards.
- Assist in maintaining and governing the Group’s Chart of Accounts (COA), ensuring proper account usage, adherence to control and governance requirements, and alignment with COA maintenance guiding principles.
- Ensure GL balances are substantiated by performing secondary oversight of Balance Substantiation proofing submitted by Account Owners (AOs), in line with the Group Risk‑Based GL Monitoring Framework.
- Leverage strong banking product knowledge and accounting expertise to perform independent and meaningful assessments. This includes conducting investigations, reviewing anomalies, and working with Account Owners (AOs) to ensure timely and accurate resolution of GL outages.
- Perform ongoing monitoring and review activities to identify, escalate, and remediate risk and control issues promptly, ensuring the Bank maintains strong operational and financial integrity.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing and updating process documentation, SOPs, policies, and required audit artefacts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Support process improvement and automation initiatives, including RPA and data‑driven enhancements aimed at strengthening governance, control effectiveness, and operational efficiency across GL processes.
- Conduct analysis of GL and supporting data to generate meaningful insights that facilitate informed management decision‑making.
- Collaborate closely with regional subsidiaries and overseas branches to support the alignment, adoption, and execution of Group standard processes, and to address financial operations matters that may arise.
Job Requirements
- A recognized degree in Accountancy, Banking and Finance and related disciplines.
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in Finance Operations, Financial Control, or similar functions within local or international banks or financial institutions.
- Strong understanding of banking and treasury products, with the ability to interpret product‑related financial entries and their accounting impact.
- Solid knowledge of financial controls, governance frameworks, and risk‑based monitoring practices.
- Experience working in environments with high regulatory expectations, including audit engagement, substantiation requirements, and compliance alignment.
Core Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Hands‑on experience with Python, Power BI, SQL, or other automation/analytics tools is highly advantageous.
- Strong analytical capability, financial acumen, and meticulous attention to detail, especially in control‑focused environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated drive, ownership, and self‑motivation, with the ability to operate in fast‑paced and high‑pressure environments.
- Adaptable, collaborative, and innovative mindset with a passion for driving process improvements and positive change.
