Job Profile Summary

We have a great opportunity to join the Sector & Specialised Lending (“S&SL”) team which is part of Lending Transaction Management (“TM”) of ING Wholesale Banking (“WB”) in Singapore. The S&SL team provides execution solutions across a spectrum of specialised lending products, including project finance, object finance, structured sub-investment grade corporate debt, and other cash flow- or asset-based lending. You will work on deal execution in close collaboration with the ING Wholesale Banking’s Sector Coverage teams covering sectors such as (a) Energy, (b) Metals, Mining and Fertilizers, (c) Telecom, Media, Technology and Healthcare, (d) Real Estate and Infrastructure and (e) Transportation, Logistics and Automotive. This is a mid-level lending professional role within the front office. You will carry primary responsibility for some of the key processes related to structured lending transactions and work closely with Sector Bankers and Relationship Managers. The work will be fast-paced and multifaceted.  Preference will be given to candidates that have aptitude and experience in the Metals, Mining and Fertilizers sector, which, comprises the mining, processing and refining of critical materials, including the battery industry value-chain and is a key growth sector for ING. However, you will also be exposed to, and expected to work with, one or two other sector(s) in which ING specializes. 

The vacancy involves regular contact with clients, prospects, other banks, legal, technical, market and other advisors and frequent cooperation with other product owners such as Capital Markets and Advisory, Financial Markets and Transaction Services and internal operational departments such as Portfolio Management, Credit Risk Management, Legal, Global Lending Support and Loan Operations.
 

Responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to manage new specialised lending transactions, work closely with the client relationship managers and take responsibility for many of the key lending execution processes, which include:

  • Financial and credit analysis on existing and prospect clients;

  • Developing, building and managing financial models with sensitivity analysis and validation of key macroeconomic, technical and financial assumptions;

  • Drafting and negotiating financing term sheets, reviewing and negotiating financing and security documents;

  • Coordinating due diligence workstreams with third party advisors and lending syndicates;

  • Interfacing with loan operations, treasury and the lending centre of excellence units to verify limit availability, and compliance with internal policies and portfolio management;

  • Oversee and coordinate deal closing including financing documents and conditions precedent;

  • Assist in preparation of marketing materials and primary syndication processes;

  • Preparing business comparable and analysis of debt structures, performance metrics and debt pricing;

  • Attending client team meetings and calls with clients including for transaction-related due diligence;

  • Staying current on organizational operating policies and procedures (i.e. Risk, Legal, etc.) to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and followed, and facilitate accordingly;

  • Support lending related projects, policy changes, etc. as part of change management, where required under relevant WB transformation/change strategies.

Qualifications and CompetenciesQualifications / Education:

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in finance / economics / accounting / management / engineering (or similar).

Experience & Competencies
  • 3-5-year (for Associate) or 6-7-year (for Vice President) specialised/structured and/or project finance gained with a bank, non-bank financial institution, corporate or financial advisory firm;

    Strong interest and prior experience in one or several ING priority sectors and openness to work across 2-3 of those sectors.  Prior exposure to the natural resources sector particularly the financing of the mining, refining and processing of critical metals and sustainable materials and/or new energies in the Asia Pacific region would be a plus;
  • Collaborative and inclusive team player; with strong interpersonal skills, embracing diversity and cross-cultural awareness and able to work effectively across functions; 

  • Results orientation, passion to drive solutions and results that add value to customers;

  • Solid financial analysis and modelling skills and ability to develop and maintain complex financial projections;

  • Well-developed financial analysis, comprehensive risk analysis and credit skills;
