Responsible for supporting a team of Portfolio Managers in managing Discretionary Portfolio Management mandates, ensuring client portfolios adhere to product-specific guidelines and bank policies, and performing various administrative tasks. Support the day-to-day management of client portfolios and provide general administrative support to Portfolio Managers. Work independently with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks.

YOUR CHALLENGE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Associate Portfolio Manager is expected to provide support to a team of Portfolio Managers (“PMs”) in their day-to-day management of the Discretionary Portfolio Management (“DPM”) mandates offered by Bank Julius Baer (the “Bank”) to its high net worth individuals.

The main responsibilities of this Candidate include supporting the PMs in servicing and managing the Clients’ DPM portfolios, update the model portfolio as needed and ensuring the Client portfolios’ adherence to the product-specific guidelines and Bank’s inhouse policies as First Line of Defence (“1LOD”).

The candidate is also expected to be involved in the Investment Proposal generation, Client’s meeting materials preparation, ad-hoc request from the Relationship Managers (“RMs”) as well as providing the general administrative support to the PMs.

The candidate needs to be proficient in Power point, Microsoft Word and Excel. He/she is expected to work closely with the Portfolio Managers (“PMs”) and to deal with large amount of presentation materials.

Key performance indicators include efficiency and accuracies in completing both the tasks assigned and in handling the ad-hoc requests from the PM team. He/she should have a strong analytical and problem solving skills and will be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

KEY FEATURES OF THE POSITION

Client Management (internal & external)

  • Actively engage and support the PM team in the daily activities and tasks assigned
  • Interact effectively with the PMs as well as internal clients from Relationship Management Team

Regulatory Responsibilities &/OR Risk Management

  • Support the PMs with their day-to-day management of the DPM mandates offered by the Bank, which includes investment proposal generation, Client meeting materials preparation, investment monitoring to ensure Client portfolios’ adherence to the product-specific guidelines and the Bank’s in-house investment policies as First Line of Defence (“1LOD”).
  • Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

YOUR PROFILE

Personal and Social

  • Strong team player with good maturity, excellent inter-personal skills and corporate discipline.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage stress in a dynamic environment.
  • Possess a keen sense of ownership – ability to see assigned tasks to completion with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and adaptable

Professional and Technical

  • University degree and sound academic background in Finance; ideally with 2-3 years of relevant working experience
  • Recent graduates with at least 1 year of relevant working experience and are welcome to apply
  • CFA qualification is an advantage
  • Completed the regulatory examinations such as CACS Paper 1 and 2, CMFAS Module 3 and Module 6
  • Good understanding of financial markets, financial products and industry landscape
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Macro and coding experience is a plus.

Regulatory

  • MAS RNF registered representatives to perform the regulated activities in Fund Management
  • Familiar with regulatory expectations and requirements
