Job Description
Legal Attorney and Advisory is responsible for providing legal advice to the firm and ensuring the firm operates in accordance with legal parameters. Specialists provide support across the scope of the firm's activities ensuring that legal issues, contracts, disputes, and complex transactions are conducted within the due diligence of the legal framework. The Attorney area is responsible for providing legal advice to the firm, and for ensuring the firm operates in accordance with various legal parameters. The Product / Business Unit Lawyer focus specializes in providing legal advice and strategic expertise to one of the business lines of the firm (e.g., Capital Markets, Investment Management, Commercial or Corporate Banking, etc.) on product development, transactions, and cross-border and domestic issues. May represent the Firm with clients, external agencies, and regulatory bodies; direct internal legal activities, and coordinate work conducted by External Legal Counsel.
Responsibilities:
- Providing legal advisory services to, and engaging in stakeholder discussions on, a broad range of matters across various banking functions (including tech and ops, HR).
- Managing and handling of disputes, including representing the Bank in adjudications and mediations
- Drafting, reviewing and hands-on negotiation of diverse banking/commercial documents and agreements.
- Drafting product terms and conditions; legal policies and guidelines.
- Advising business leaders on significant legal issues impacting the business.
- Participating in special projects, both local and regional (including industry-wide initiatives, corporate actions, business transformation).
- Working with internal stakeholders to support the Bank’s strategy and drive business growth
- Other job-related duties which may be assigned as required.
Requirements:
- Degree in Law from a recognized university and preferably admitted to the Singapore Bar
- About 3 - 5 years PQE in legal practice and/or related in-house role in the financial industry
- Prior experience in banking and finance would be advantageous
- As successful candidate will work in a legal team which supports the Group Retail business units, he/she should be a collaborative team player with an ability to also work independently
- Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and handle multiple ongoing assignments
