Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Malay Literature/Literature Education (ALC) [NIE]

The Department of Asian Languages & Cultures (ALC) invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for a faculty position in its Malay language and culture division. The Malay division of ALC provides training for Malay language teachers through both pre-service and professional development programmes in Singapore.
Requirements
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Malay Literature (Modern and Traditional/Classical) or comparative literature, preferably with a strong interest not only in their specialized field/s of literature but also in Jawi literacy.
Extensive experience and expertise in research in the above fields.
Highly proficient in the reading, and writing, of modern and classical Jawi texts.
Native or near-native competence in oral and written Malay and English.
Demonstrate strong ability for effective undergraduate and graduate level teaching.
Sufficient knowledge of the Singapore curriculum and the Singapore education system.
A degree or diploma in education is preferred.
Responsibilities
Lead or collaborate on funded research projects and maintain a strong research and publication record.
Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, including academic supervision of undergraduate and graduate student research projects.
Supervise and mentor undergraduate student teachers in their school teaching practice.
Build connections with the local and global professional community.
Undertake any administrative duties required as exigencies of the service.
Offer professional services to schools, the Ministry of Education and other public education-related organizations on a request basis.
An Associate Professor will be expected to:
Mentor junior faculty members.
Serve in the NIE / NTU committees.

Teaching Impact Statement (up to 3 pages)
Applicants should demonstrate their impact on student learning and education by addressing the following:
- How have you enhanced student learning and engagement?
- What teaching innovations or improvements have you implemented and why?
- How have you promoted interdisciplinary thinking?
- How have you incorporated experiential and collaborative learning?
- How have you contributed to a positive teaching culture?
Student Feedback on Teaching (if available)
Three sample publications (in English and/or Malay)
