About the Division

Based in Singapore, the Investment Management Services (IMS) team is seeking a highly self-motivated professional to support product sourcing and due diligence activity with a primary focus on private investment funds.

About the Role

IMS is responsible for fee-based activity in PWM Asia, including product sourcing and due diligence, investment committee, product launch coordination, product documentation, marketing and trade processing, after-sales support and product monitoring. Fee-based products span traditional and alternative funds, as well as discretionary and advisory mandates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive product sourcing and onboarding for IMS as part of the Product Due Diligence (PDD) effort.
  • Participate in fund manager meetings, prepare meeting notes, analyses and commentaries on fund managers, market trends and opportunities impacting the manager landscape and opportunity set.
  • Perform initial and ongoing due diligence on investment strategies, with an emphasis on alternative investments (venture capital, private credit, private real assets, co-investment opportunities and other asset classes as required).
  • Conduct thorough market, country and industry analysis to identify potential investment opportunities, track deal flow and develop informed perspectives on industry trends.
  • Prepare detailed investment memoranda, reports and presentations, articulating key findings.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring existing fund commitments and partner relationships, including preparing periodic performance reports and valuations.
  • Adhere to Morgan Stanley PWM Asia policies and procedures, working in partnership with key Morgan Stanley stakeholders on the product onboarding lifecycle, including product approval and execution processes.
  • Collaborate with Morgan Stanley’s Global Investment Manager Analysis (GIMA) and Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s Global Investment Office (GIO) to prepare comprehensive analysis on potential investment opportunities within the context of global market developments.
  • Document PDD activity in line with policies and procedures and enhance processes in line with market and regulatory developments in a fast-changing investment and regulatory environment.

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

  • 2-5 years’ experience in private equity, investment banking, asset management, transaction advisory services, or a similar field.
  • Prior experience in product selection and investment due diligence is highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the wealth management industry, and acute to ongoing product and regulatory developments concerning funds.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment managers and economic dynamics within the Asia-Pacific region.
  • A conscientiousness about product risk principles.
  • The ability to distil and convey complex information in a coherent and articulate manner.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to multi-task, manage within tight schedules and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Abundant interpersonal skills, highly collaborative and ability to foster relationships across the investment and wealth management industry. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in another Asia language (e.g. Mandarin, Japanese) is an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Educational Background

  • University graduate in business-oriented disciplines.

  • SFA Dealing in Capital Markets Products
  • FAA Advising on Investment Products
  • FAA Issuing or Promulgating Analyses/Reports on Investment Products
