About this role

As a member of the APAC Investments Advisory Compliance Team - this individual will work closely with their regional and global compliance counterparts to enhance and ensure a globally consistent Investment Compliance framework for BlackRock’s global strategy. Providing compliance and regulatory advice and guidance to a variety of investment teams, particularly in relation to public markets, across the APAC region will be core to the role.

Individuals with Investment Advisory Compliance experience in either asset management, a buy-side financial services firm or sell-side banking institution will be ideal. Experience in advising on rules and regulations surrounding public market products, such as Equities, Fixed Income or Exchange Traded Funds will be looked upon favorably.

Candidates should be able to work effectively with a team environment but also be self-directed and able to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing compliance and regulatory advice to BlackRock’s APAC investment teams with respect to:

    • compliance with local, regional and global laws, regulations, best practices and BlackRock’s policies and procedures; and

    • based on a strong understanding of BlackRock’s fiduciary obligations and its commercial and business objectives.

    • Monitoring local and regional regulatory developments and evaluating their impact on the business

  • Participate in the launch of new product and business initiatives. You will collaborate closely with regional Compliance teams and regulators to assist the business with policies and procedures.

  • Assisting in maintaining the integrity of BlackRock’s information barriers and conflicts of interest program.

  • Collaboration with other control functions in the provision of advice and guidance to investment teams.

  • Participation in global and/or regional compliance initiatives to ensure global best practices and consistency including in the regional coordination of tasks.

  • Reviewing marketing and distribution materials in APAC for BlackRock’s investment teams

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6-10 years relevant working experience in investment advisory compliance in asset management, a buy-side global financial services firm or sell-side banking institution.  Experience in public market products, such as Equities, Fixed Income or Exchange Traded Funds will be looked upon favorably.

  • An understanding of the regulatory environment for investments across APAC is advantageous.

  • An understanding of asset management compliance programs including monitoring and surveillance is ideal

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese due to interaction with the Chinese Market. Cantonese language skills advantageous.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong ability to interact and negotiate with key internal and external business stakeholders.

  • Strong written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • University degree in Law/Finance/Accounting/Business/Economics preferred.
