Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.​

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a APAC HEMA Lead, located in Singapore or North Ryde, Australia.

Position Summary 

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic leader to lead Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) across APAC for DePuy Synthes. This role is responsible for defining and executing regional market access, reimbursement, and value strategies, ensuring timely and sustainable patient access to DePuy Synthes’ technologies across diverse APAC healthcare systems. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead APAC market access and reimbursement strategies for DePuy Synthes specialties and platforms, ensuring regional priorities are reflected in global evidence and content strategies. 
  • Lead, retain and engage a high performing APAC HEMA team with direct reports across multiple markets to deliver HEMA objectives for APAC. Provide end to end team leadership including onboarding, coaching, performance feedback, development, succession planning, leadership development and exit management as required.  
  • Be directly responsible for a priority and strategic business unit, defined according to APAC needs, ensuring HEMA strategy and execution align with business priorities and performance objectives. 
  • Shape the external environment by proactively engaging payers and other non-clinical stakeholders to build advocacy, inform access pathways, and advance value-based adoption across APAC. 
  • Create and deliver an integrated APAC market access strategy in partnership with business leaders, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Clinical teams, to shape access and reimbursement strategies across APAC. 
  • Work with Global and Regional Clinical & Medical Affairs teams to co-create APAC-relevant evidence strategies for priority technologies and platforms. 
  • Foster strong collaboration across regional HEMA teams, promoting aligned ways of working and effective communication. 
  • Identify and prioritize cross-market and cross-cluster APAC initiatives that can be efficiently executed at regional level to maximize impact and consistency. 
  • Support country commercial organizations with data, tools, and HEMA expertise to overcome access barriers and accelerate technology adoption. 
  • Ensure effective dissemination and utilization of health economic tools, value narratives, and evidence assets across APAC. 
  • Track progress against regional HEMA priorities, aligning activities with business objectives, milestones, and commitments. 
  • Enable commercial organizations to maximize the impact of value propositions and support innovation adoption across the region. 
  • Key Milestones & Progress Toward Goals 
  • Define and deliver APAC economic value propositions and market access and reimbursement strategies across the product lifecycle. 
  • Deliver HEMA milestones throughout the pipeline, supporting value-based pricing, access optimization, and launch excellence. 
  • Secure optimal and sustainable market access for priority technologies across APAC, navigating healthcare system complexity and market heterogeneity. 

Key Activities 

  • Act as a regional HEMA point of reference for prioritized access stakeholders, including payers, HTA bodies, and institutional decision-makers, as appropriate. 
  • Oversee regional funding, reimbursement, and access initiatives aimed at addressing unmet medical needs through evidence-based differentiation. 
  • Provide leadership for HTA and pricing opportunities, shaping strategies to influence and navigate regional and local assessment processes. 
  • Collaborate with business partners to identify priority accounts and initiatives where HEMA expertise can drive meaningful business outcomes. 
  • Provide APAC input into global market access and evidence strategies, ensuring regional needs and insights are represented. 
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing APAC HEMA organization capable of executing complex regional strategies. 
  • Deliver and support Health Economics and value training initiatives for internal stakeholders, in collaboration with commercial education teams. 
  • Ensure compliance with HEMA requirements, local regulations, and DePuy Synthes quality and governance standards. 

Qualifications 

  • Extensive experience in Health Economics, Market Access, Pricing & Reimbursement, preferably within Medical Devices / MedTech or Pharmaceuticals. 
  • Proven track record of leading large, diverse, and multicultural regional teams across multiple markets. 
  • Deep understanding of APAC healthcare systems, including varied reimbursement pathways, HTA processes, and funding mechanisms. 
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business strategies. 
  • Exceptional leadership, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills at senior and executive levels. 
  • Strong passion for value-based healthcare and improving patient access to innovative medical technologies.
