We are seeking an experienced attorney to support Micron's expanding manufacturing footprint across the Asia Pacific region. The role will partner closely with internal stakeholders across legal, construction, procurement, engineering, real estate, operations, finance, and leadership, and will manage outside counsel across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
What You'll Do:
- Lead legal support for major capital projects in APAC, from early project development and procurement strategy through contracting, project execution, claims management, and closeout.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex project documents, including EPC/EPCM agreements, design-build agreements, construction management agreements, consultant agreements, equipment and long-lead procurement agreements, supply agreements, development agreements, amendments, change orders, and related commercial documentation.
- Advise business teams on contract risk allocation, schedule and delay exposure, variations/change orders, performance security, defects/warranty issues, claims strategy, and dispute avoidance/resolution.
- Partner with procurement, engineering, and project-delivery teams on tender strategy, contract structuring, evaluation of commercial and legal risk, and development of repeatable templates and playbooks.
- Provide APAC regional support on project-development and site-related issues, including coordination of local legal advice for site acquisition, land-use, permitting, development, and related regulatory matters where relevant to project execution.
- Manage and supervise outside counsel across multiple APAC jurisdictions, including scoping work, aligning advice to business objectives, controlling legal spend, and ensuring timely, practical, and consistent work product.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting construction, procurement, infrastructure, industrial development, and project delivery in relevant APAC jurisdictions, and translate those developments into practical guidance for the business.
What We're Looking For:
- Law degree and admission in at least one recognized jurisdiction, with ability to support cross-border APAC work in partnership with local counsel. This aligns with the multi-jurisdictional nature of comparable roles.
- 8+ years of legal experience with substantial focus on construction, infrastructure, EPC/EPCM, industrial development, or other complex capital projects.
- Significant experience negotiating and advising on large construction projects, preferably involving high-value industrial, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, mission-critical, energy, utilities, or similar technically sophisticated projects.
- Demonstrated experience counseling project teams on live-project issues, including delay, defects, changes, claims, dispute avoidance, and closeout strategy.
- Demonstrated experience managing outside counsel and coordinating local law advice across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and judgment skills, with the ability to provide commercially pragmatic advice to non-legal stakeholders.
- Ability to handle multiple workstreams and stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience with FIDIC or other major standard forms, security of payment / adjudication frameworks, and Asia-Pacific construction law concepts.
What Success Looks Like:
- Projects move faster because legal is engaged early and provides commercially workable solutions.
- Contracts better align cost, schedule, performance, and risk allocation with project realities.
- Trusted legal partner to construction, procurement, engineering, and project leadership.
- Improves speed and consistency of contracting through better templates, negotiation guidance, and use of outside counsel.
- Anticipates project risk early and helps business teams resolve issues before they become claims or disputes.
- Operates comfortably across jurisdictions and time zones while maintaining high standards for judgment, responsiveness, and work quality.
