The purpose of Anglo American Marketing is to sustainably maximise cash flows from the marketing of Anglo-American products and services.
As a result of the changing environment in commodity markets, Anglo American has centralised its marketing & sales activities in one Marketing Business Unit in order to enhance commercial capabilities and extract full value of the commercial value chain. With the centralisation comes the need for new ways of working, efficient processes and procedures, standardised IM systems as well as a new organisational model to be implemented to create a world class centralised, super-efficient, twin centred marketing function that can anticipate market developments and proactively plan sales and marketing activities with full information, visibility and a fast, efficient decision-making process.
Marketing Treasury is part of the Marketing Finance team and responsible for managing liquidity, funding, trade / structured trade finance requirements, banking relationships and financial trading counterparty set up as well as oversight of working capital usage and treasury risk management for the Marketing BU and its commodity teams. This includes the standardisation, automation enhancement and process improvements associated with the operational workstreams and risk and control procedures to continually improve upon the treasury function platform in support of our marketing and trading activity.
Purpose
The Treasury Front Office Analyst will assist the Treasury Front Office Specialist on Treasury reporting, managing cash and foreign exchange requirements, as well as the arrangement, negotiation and management of various types of banking lines and relationships to support the growing trading activities of the business. The role will also support the Treasury transformation effort and the adoption of best-in-class Treasury system and processes. The analyst will also help the Trade Finance team in their daily operational tasks
Key Responsibilities include
Bank relationship management
- Facilitate the KYC/onboarding process with transactional and trading banks
- Aiding the Treasury Front Office Manager in managing transactional, funding and trading banking relationships
- Monitor banking limits and ensure compliance with Group and Marketing company treasury policies
- Maintenance, updating and enhancement of internal systems and processes
- Operational and reporting support for trade finance products (including but not limited to Letter of Credit verification, bank fees verification, month-end reporting, etc).
Treasury advisory and support for new Marketing entities
- Support the transactional banking and funding set-up for new Marketing entities, considering local regulatory and business requirements
- Support the set-up of commodity and foreign exchange trading capabilities with onshore banks and brokers, including the negotiation of credit lines and related agreements
Treasury reporting and cash forecasting
- Cashflow forecasting over the short and medium term, coordinating with the Finance team for inputs. Monitor accuracy of actuals against forecast and continuously refine the process to improve the quality of the forecast.
- Monthly/quarterly Treasury reporting including cash and working capital utilisation/forecast, as well as banking ancillary business reporting
- Assist in system improvement projects for Treasury reporting and cashflow forecasting
Cash and FX management
- Performs daily cash management activities, ensuring optimal levels of cash for daily Marketing operations.
- Monitor exposure of Marketing BU to various currencies and the associated fluctuations.
- Periodic reporting and monitoring of cash and loans/facilities utilisation.
- Provides guidance to Finance / GSS on cash and FX funding.
Improvement projects
- Support the automation of Treasury Front Office processes, including the adoption of best-in-class Treasury processes and alignment of processes with Group Treasury
- Support the implementation of a Treasury Management System for Marketing, and Treasury system improvement projects
- Execution of User Acceptance Testing (‘UAT’) for new treasury systems.
- Embed funding processes for new trading activities, ensuring consistency of procedures.
Requirements
- Excellent academic credentials in Business or Finance, ideally Bachelor degree.
- Working experience in treasury or trade finance function in a reputable organisation
- Analytical, good attitude to learning and curious mindset
