Job Description
Join JPMorgan Chase, a global leader in financial services, as an Executive Director on the Strategic Artificial Intelligence Governance & Enablement (SAIGE) team in APAC. In this pivotal role, you will drive the firm's AI/ML strategy, focusing on governance, enablement, and regulatory compliance across the region. You will be responsible for leading transformational initiatives, ensuring robust governance frameworks, and navigating the evolving regulatory landscape for AI/ML. You will also manage a high-performing team of employees, fostering their growth and ensuring successful execution of strategic priorities. You will collaborate with global and regional stakeholders, including technical, business, and compliance teams, to advance the firm's AI/ML agenda. You will play a critical role in shaping the firm's approach to responsible AI, ensuring alignment with both internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities
  • Define, drive, and operationalize the AI strategy for governance, enablement, and regulatory compliance in APAC, ensuring alignment with global and regional business objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee AI governance frameworks, policies, and standards that champion responsible use of AI/ML technologies, including generative and agentic models.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of AI-related risks, including model risk, data privacy, fairness, and ethical considerations, partnering with control functions and risk teams.
  • Monitor, interpret, and drive implementation of evolving AI/ML regulations across APAC jurisdictions, analyzing implications and developing relevant responses.
  • Lead regulatory engagement, including responding to regulatory inquiries, preparing submissions, and representing the firm in industry forums, regulatory working groups, and with independent validators and auditors.
  • Drive firmwide adoption of AI/ML by identifying opportunities, removing barriers, and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Own project workstreams, lead cross-functional working groups, and develop best practices for AI/ML enablement, governance, and operationalization.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic guidance on AI/ML enablement, governance, and regulatory matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business, technology, risk, and compliance teams.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of employees in APAC, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, global regulation and guidelines, promoting adoption of AI testing and continuously elevating governance standards to ensure responsible AI.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and relevant experience in AI/ML governance, model risk management, or regulatory compliance.
  • Formal training or certification on AI/ML governance, model risk management and 12+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong technical background and proven track record in AI/ML governance, enablement, and regulatory compliance, ideally within complex, regulated environments.
  • Deep understanding of the APAC regulatory landscape for AI/ML, including familiarity with key regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing governance frameworks and policies for AI/ML.
  • Proficiency with leading machine learning frameworks.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and executive-level communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects from inception to completion, while navigating intricate stakeholder landscapes with ease.
  • Experience engaging with regulators, preparing regulatory submissions, and representing organizations in industry forums.
  • A sharp analytical mind paired with excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills-enabling confident and effective engagement with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to coach, develop, and manage junior talent, providing oversight and guidance to high-priority projects.
  • A collaborative self-starter, capable of independently driving initiatives forward, with moderate to low supervision, and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving business and technical environment.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry, particularly in APAC.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Generative AI, Large Language Models, Agentic AI, or AI guardrails.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration, including influencing stakeholders and working with diverse teams.
  • Prior experience managing teams in a global or regional context.
