Lead internal consulting projects addressing Rio Tinto’s highest-value business challenges. Structure complex problems, analyze information, test hypotheses, develop recommendations, manage workstreams, engage stakeholders, present findings to executives, and support implementation. The role partners across commercial functions in APAC to deliver sustainable business value and strengthen trusted client relationships.

Analyze lithium demand, pricing, and battery supply-chain trends; develop and validate regional and global demand models; forecast short-term prices; track leading market indicators; and monitor industry developments. Improve analytical frameworks through AI-enabled workflow automation, data pipelines, and reporting tools. Collaborate with commercial and economics teams, communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders, and support strategic decision-making.

Conduct commodity, procurement, marine, and logistics market analysis to support commercial decisions. Build and maintain supply-demand models, forecasts, market intelligence, pricing tools, and scenarios. Analyze macroeconomic risks, trade flows, supplier and competitor information, and contractual benchmarks. Translate quantitative and qualitative research into actionable insights for procurement, trading, negotiation, and commercial operations while collaborating with global market analysis teams.

Build and operationalize Rio Tinto Commercial’s market risk management framework. Responsibilities include analyzing risk and P&L drivers, producing daily mark-to-market P&L, supporting VaR and stress testing, reporting trading risk positions, reviewing new transactions, improving reporting processes, and partnering with Trading, Sales, Finance, and Digital teams.
