Reuters is looking for an enthusiastic and diligent journalist to join our fast-paced visual verification and newsgathering team on a short-term contract basis, with a commitment period of four months.
You will be based in our Singapore newsroom and will collaborate with video, text and photography colleagues on major global stories, working on breaking news, personal insight stories, conflicts and investigations.
Through your ability to search, verify and obtain permission for content, your work will be seen by millions of people through the thousands of broadcast, digital and text Reuters clients around the world.
This is a full-time position for a couple of months that demands flexibility to work long hours and some weekends.

About the Role
As our Visual Verification & Newsgathering Producer, you will: 

  • Scan the internet for visuals of breaking news, conflicts, and trends to quickly identify original sources and uploads.
  • Use your interpersonal skills to speak to sources, ask them questions and get clearance for Reuters to distribute their content.
  • Use OSINT techniques and tools such as satellite, file imagery, metadata, weather data and other evidence to forensically analyse videos and photographs to establish if they are old, misleading, tampered with or AI-generated.
  • Follow closely the biggest international stories of the day.
  • Track trends and pitch human-led stories.
  • Interview people, edit video and contribute to multimedia reporting.
  • Have the opportunity to collaborate with our special reports and investigations teams.

About You

  • Knowledgeable about the latest OSINT tools and verification processes.
  • Fascinated by international news.
  • Passionate about telling human-led stories.
  • Good at finding untold stories that go beyond the headlines.
  • Ambitious to find and cover stories that will have an impact.
  • Following the latest developments in the digital industry including regarding artificial intelligence.
  • Good at working in a team environment and on your own.
  • Proficient at speaking and writing English.

Prior experience in social media newsgathering, verification, open-source intelligence (OSINT) work or fact checking would present a clear advantage.
