Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior technical advisor for Singapore and Asia-Pacific project development, acquisitions, and operational initiatives.
- Lead and participate in global technical working groups covering relevant technologies, ensuring Asia-Pacific considerations are integrated into company-wide strategies.
- Provide specialist advice to the global platform on electrical engineering tasks such as network design, power system studies, power transformer and switchgear specification, electrical hazards and electrical safety programs.
- Assess projects for technical performance, lifecycle, and cost, including market-specific factors in Asia.
- Monitor and analyze emerging technologies, market trends, and regulatory developments across key Asia-Pacific regions for Brookfield, providing insight on their commercial potential.
- Conduct comparative technical and commercial evaluations of equipment suppliers, with a focus on regional supplier networks.
- Support investment teams, with accountability for selected elements, on technical due diligence and commercial screening for acquisitions, project development pipelines, and operating assets in Asia-Pacific, while aligning with global standards.
- Support Capital Markets and Asset Management in financing initiatives incl. supervision of the asset owner led technical studies
- Support Asset Management team by managing and leading operational and technical requirements for the integration of new businesses, investments and ongoing support in joint ventures, partnership agreements.
- Oversee value engineering processes to validate underwriting assumptions in financial models and ensure proper valuation of existing and prospective assets.
- Advise on facility configuration, equipment selection, and design strategies tailored to local market and regulatory contexts.
- Share best practices globally on design, construction, operation, and asset management, incorporating learnings from Asia-Pacific projects.
- Maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, regulators, and technical experts in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region to position the Company as a leader in energy transition deployment.
- Represent the Company at relevant conferences, technical forums, and stakeholder engagements in Asia-Pacific.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Recognized professional engineering designation (e.g., P.Eng.).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in renewable energy or related fields, with significant exposure to Asia-Pacific markets.
- Deep technical knowledge of power generation, electricity T&D, renewable energy generation and storage facility design, construction, and operations.
- Strong contractual knowledge and proven competency in equipment supply, construction and operations third party agreements.
- Broad understanding of global energy transition challenges and opportunities.
- Demonstrated success working as a senior individual contributor in complex, cross-border environments.
- Proven experience in pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, development and construction of renewable and/or low-carbon energy projects.
- Demonstrated success in technical due diligence for investment decisions, including risk assessment and mitigation.
- Proven ability to define good practice in construction, operations and to lead implementation of such
- In-depth understanding and experience of the development lifecycle from origination to execution, including stage gating for investment decisions and commercial business case aspects
- Familiarity with climate-related physical risk assessments and resilience strategies for assets in the region.
- Exceptional influencing skills, with the ability to balance technical and business considerations and gain stakeholder support.
- Confident, shows conviction when expressing positions and points of view.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
