Team Overview 

BlackRock’s PSG team is responsible for using BlackRock’s scale, industry knowledge, and risk management capabilities to build and expand partnerships with leading financial institutions, achieving the delivery of high-quality service to our firm’s clients. To achieve each of these goals, PSG develops and implements a forward-looking provider strategy designed to increase operational efficiency, provide risk and cost visibility, and provide flexibility as our business evolves, leading to an enhanced client experience. To balance our relationships, PSG executes a global provider governance model that combines quantitative and qualitative components, encompasses a consistent engagement program between BlackRock and our partners, mitigates operational risks, and sets parameters for the selection of new partners. 

 

Role Description 

We are looking for an outstanding teammate to join PSG in Asia (in Singapore) as part of the Relationship Management team. They will manage relationships and drive the governance program with our core post-trade providers and local Trust/Custodian Banks in APAC. They will also start to build a network of relationships with niche Alternatives and Digital Assets Providers in the region and play a key role in supporting local growth and execution of our APAC provider strategy. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Day-to-day relationship management with Providers and represent BlackRock to face off the key local contacts from Providers

  • Build a network of Pte Credit/Debit/Real Estate/Infrastructure Providers in the region, and database of their service offering and potential collaboration opportunities 

  • Key interface between BlackRock management team and Provider management teams and act as the central point of escalation for all major providers related issues  

  • Communicate relationship status to BlackRock executive leadership team 

  • Work proactively with internal constituents to evolve and execute on our relationship strategy 

  • Refine BlackRock’s post-trade landscape and provider operating models to maximize scale and optionality 

  • Proactively address risk utilizing metrics and management information 

  • Hold Providers accountable for the service delivery, prepare and lead quarterly meetings 

  • Stay ahead of industry developments, collect local and global market intelligence and ensure BlackRock is well positioned to scale our business model 

  • Lead or participate in Provider searches such as RFPs and RFIs 

  • Drive commercial terms negotiation with respect to fees taking into consideration Provider cost structures, potential savings and broader enterprise-wide relationships 

  • Assist with implementation of the PSG oversight programs for ongoing monitoring of provider performance 

  • Partner with Legal & Compliance, internal audit and RQA to carry out Risk assessments 

  • Assist with projects relating to APAC 2030 growth pillars and roll out of new strategic technology platform in the region 

  • Assist with the roll out of our governance structure in the region for strengthened operational resilience 

 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years' experience in the fields of middle or/and back-office operations within local/global asset managers or global asset servicing firms 

  • Strong understanding of asset management or/and asset servicing industry (ie. trust banks, custodians) and boarder industry trends and challenges.   

  • Broad knowledge of product operations including technology systems, legal structures, fund types and financial and regulatory reporting etc. 

  • Broad product knowledge of ETFs and Alternatives preferred 

  • Existing network of Alternatives Providers preferred 

  • Good understanding of provider risk assessments, operational related governance & control framework  

  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills 

  • Experience interacting with investment/sales/product/operation teams and a range of other partner groups to drive solutions 

  • Ability to structure and scope sophisticated problems and apply a range of analytical tools to develop solutions 

  • Ability to lead projects, partner with cross-functional stakeholders and work in a dynamic evolving environment with the expectation of meeting Fiduciary needs 

  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Ability to work and deliver results independently; a self-starter 

  • BS/BA degree in finance/ accounting / business; advanced degree preferred
