Position Overview:

As a Trading Applications Specialist at Squarepoint, you will work in a global team of exceptional technologists with the primary focus of ensuring reliability and stability of our trading services. You will develop a deep understanding of financial markets, combining this knowledge with strong technical skills to support systematic trading applications and other critical software.

You will step into a high responsibility role, taking ownership of incident management and root cause elimination through process improvements. Trading Applications Specialists drive continuous innovation via automation and optimisation of our daily workflows. In this role you will learn how we manage application outages and minimise their negative impact on our large-scale global trading operation.

Typical Day:

  • Carry out ready for business checks ahead of the 'start-of-day' to ensure a smooth market open, resolving any failures. 
  • Monitor trading applications and execution strategies, utilising our proprietary observability frameworks.
  • Carry out post trade checks and resolve reporting issues. 
  • Leverage your critical thinking skills and manage outages that impact the trading environment, reducing production downtime.
  • Work on a wide range of projects, including: onboarding of new applications, services and products into the production environment or developing tools and scripts to automate operational tasks.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics or a similar discipline
  • Up to 4 years experience in a similar environment, buy or sell side
  • Experience with Linux, Python, Bash
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following asset classes: equities, fixed income, derivatives, etc.
  • Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work within a global team
  • Eagerness to continuously learn new technologies and develop with us
  • Curious and driven by the challenge of solving new problems. 

Additional: 

  • Experience with either of: kdb+/q, MSSQL, PostgreSQL
  • Experience working with the FIX protocol
  • Understanding of TCP/IP concepts

The minimum base salary for this role is $60,000 if located in New York.  This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting.  This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation.  This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions.  Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
