As a Document Checker Associate within the Trade Finance Operations team, you will be an integral part of our trade finance operations. You will have the opportunity to handle trade finance related processing functions in a global bank environment for the Singapore market. You will be working closely with both internal and external clients, and your ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team will be key to your success in this role.
Job responsibilities:
- Import and/or export document checking with minimum supervision.
- Communicate trade related commercial rules and able to provide solution or explanation to client in relation to UCP 600, ISBP, ISP98, URR725, URC522 or incoterms 2010.
- Highlight irregularities and red flag items for credit/risks approval.
- Handle and check commodities Letter of Credits and documents.
- Prepare reports for various internal stakeholders
- Liaise with external and internal customers and perform any ad-hoc request as directed by manager
- Understand the flow of import/export transaction across different functions & products e.g. Letter of Credit advising, document checking, acceptance, reimbursement claim and payment.
- Utilize trade processing system to process the transaction with multiple task to be handled with minimum supervision
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- At least Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines
- At least 4 years of relevant working experience in performing bills and documents checking within Trade Finance Operations is required
- Resourceful and able to work effectively as an individual as well as in a team
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients both verbal and written
- Good understand of industry practices and well versed in Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and be a fast learner of various trade applications/systems
- We're a global company whose primary business language is English and so fluency in English is required
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Prior experience within the Financial services industry is highly preferred
- Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialist is advantageous
