Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a decentralized, permissionless naming system built on the Ethereum blockchain that enables human-readable names (like "myname.eth") to be linked to standard Ethereum addresses and other distributed systems.
As one of the first protocols built on Ethereum, ENS has enabled over 3 million registered .eth names, and over another 20 million ENS names from teams such as Coinbase, Uniswap, and Linea, as well as integrations with hundreds of other apps, wallets, protocols, and browsers in the crypto ecosystem.
ENS Labs has been driving the core development of the ENS protocol since 2018. We created the ENS app, open-source libraries, and core smart contracts. We are on a mission to make crypto-powered experiences as easy and accessible as browsing the web. Join us as we build the next iteration of our protocol, ENSv2, and pioneer a more decentralized, flexible, and scalable ENS for the future.
About the RoleThe Technical Project Manager (TPM) at ENS Labs is responsible for ensuring that complex, cross-functional technical initiatives are delivered predictably, safely, and with a high bar for quality across the ENS protocol, infrastructure, and ecosystem tooling.
This is not a traditional project management role. It requires strong technical fluency and the ability to work closely with protocol engineers, infrastructure teams, frontend developers, and external contributors. You will help translate ambitious protocol goals into executable plans, align teams on scope and sequencing, and keep momentum across long-running, interdependent initiatives.
You will operate at the intersection of protocol development, execution management, and technical coordination, helping ENS Labs ship foundational work that underpins a large portion of the Ethereum ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working on highly technical systems, thrives in ambiguity, and brings structure, clarity, and accountability to complex engineering efforts.
What You'll DoTechnical Program Leadership & Delivery (50%)
Own end-to-end delivery of complex technical initiatives across protocol development, infrastructure, and ecosystem integrations.
Lead cross-functional project teams composed of protocol engineers, frontend engineers, infra contributors, and external collaborators.
Translate technical goals into clear scopes, milestones, dependencies, and delivery plans.
Ensure alignment on what is required, what is feasible, and how work should be sequenced across teams.
Track execution health, risks, and delivery progress, surfacing blockers early and driving resolution.
Technical Communication & Cross-Team Alignment (25%)
Act as a technical coordination layer between engineering teams, product, and leadership.
Facilitate planning sessions, technical reviews, and retrospectives to drive clarity and alignment.
Communicate technical decisions, constraints, and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Support collaboration with ecosystem partners, integrators, and contributors when projects span beyond ENS Labs.
Execution Management & Process Improvement (15%)
Drive lightweight, effective project management processes that support engineering velocity without adding unnecessary overhead.
Maintain project documentation, timelines, and decision records to ensure shared understanding.
Identify opportunities to improve delivery workflows, planning practices, and cross-team coordination.
Help scale repeatable execution patterns as ENS Labs grows.
Governance, Quality & Risk Management (10%)
Ensure projects meet ENS Labs’ standards for security, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
Support release coordination, dependency management, and change communication.
Help teams anticipate and mitigate technical and operational risks in protocol-level work.
4-6 years of experience in technical project management, engineering program management, or a closely related role.
Proven experience working closely with engineering teams in technical contexts.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to operate independently and drive clarity across complex initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience working in Web3, crypto, or protocol-focused organizations.
Background supporting infrastructure, platform, or protocol engineering teams.
Experience coordinating open-source or ecosystem-facing initiatives.
Prior experience in a startup, high-growth, or Web3/crypto organization.
