The primary role of Supplier Engineer is to coordinate with Supply Planning to raise CAPEX/PO for new tools, monitor tools qualification, update Tool Register and process request to scrap end-of-life tools. Key deliverables include, but not limited to, timely processing of new tools request, ensuring the supplier is maintaining the Supplier Capacity & Tool Request file and monitoring their capacity needs. The Supplier Engineer will work with Cross-Functional Teams (XFT) to perform other tasks to support business needs. 

 

Let’s talk about Responsibilities 

 

  • Provide a single point of contact for the management of supplier assets/tooling. This includes coordinating the end-to-end lifecycle of these assets.  

  • Raise capex and purchase orders for new tools, working closely with finance, planning and stakeholders to ensure assets are appropriately justified, tracked and utilized  

  • Manage Supplier Process Validation (SPV) activities and address supplier change request management.  

  • Source, receive and follow-up on tooling capacity information from suppliers and assist in data gathering and preparation of quality reports, where needed.  

  • When required, support and participate in problem solving and root-cause investigations  

  • Maintain high standards of quality of work and services provided to internal customers.   

  • Develop positive working rapport with internal customers and external suppliers.  

  • Work with Cross-Functional Teams (XFT) to perform other tasks to support business needs  

  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required.   

 

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience  

 

  • Supplier manufacturing process knowledge and understanding of various manufacturing processes  

  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills with proven experience, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (both internal and external)   

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM)  

  • Strong knowledge and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, document system)   

  • Experience in data-analytics will be an added advantage  

  • Proficient in Microsoft outlook, Excel, Word & power-point   

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  

Required:  

  • Degree in Engineering or Science with 1 to 3 years’ experience 

  • Experience in engineering processes drawing and tools in manufacturing environments  

  • Familiar with GR&R, Process Capability Study, FMEA, Control Plans  

  

Preferred:  

  • Training & experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and quality tools & methodologies  

  • Experience in operating within highly regulated industry – preferably medical device industry  

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) software e.g. Minitab
