About Acquia

Acquia empowers the world’s most ambitious brands to create digital customer experiences that matter. With open source Drupal at its core, the Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) enables marketers, developers, and IT operations teams at thousands of global organizations to rapidly compose and deploy digital products and services that engage customers, enhance conversions, and help businesses stand out.

Headquartered in the U.S., Acquia is a Great Place to Work-CertifiedTM company in India, is listed as one of the world’s top software companies by The Software Report, and is positioned as a market leader by the analyst community. We are Acquia. We are building for the future and we want you to be a part of it!

At Acquia, we are looking for a Staff Product Designer who operates as a pacesetter—a strategic leader who differentiates their design approach through elevated critical thinking and innovation. You will act as a bridge between strategy and execution, shaping experiences across our digital products while setting the standard for communication and craft.

In this role, you are not just a contributor; you are a holistic problem solver who leads by example. You embrace both wins and failures to set the tone for how the team works, partnering closely with leadership to ensure the design team’s growth and optimistic maturity.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership & Business Impact

  • Influence Discovery: You understand the context and business case deep enough to influence early-phase needs during discovery. You work with other leaders to clearly define a project's associated business value.
  • Working Group Leadership: You hold leadership and accountability in at least one internal working group (e.g., Accessibility, Design Patterns/System) to ensure continued growth and connection across the wider team.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: You actively engage stakeholders for product improvements and drive new project initiatives, ensuring the team is working toward shared goals.

Execution, Craft & Accessibility

  • Accessibility (A11y) First: You maintain a holistic design process that puts Accessibility first. You ensure work respects both technical and business-related constraints without allowing quality to be compromised.
  • Unbiased Prototyping: You are clear on the story you are telling. You select the right artifact for the right stage of the project, ensuring the fidelity of your work removes bias and sets a tone for a higher caliber of testing.
  • Reliable Delivery: You set the schedule for task completion and never miss a deadline you have committed to. You assist teammates in ensuring they hit their deadlines as well.
    • Collaborative Planning: When complex scheduling problems arise (e.g., scope creep), you proactively identify the issues and partner with Team Leads to replan appropriately.

Mentorship, Culture & Communication

  • Communication Standards: You set the bar for communication. You are conscious of others' styles and use your influence to allow everyone on the team to contribute.
  • Intentional Inquiry: You ask "why" with intention—always seeking to create shared understanding and alignment.
  • Feedback Ecosystem: You help create an environment and team structure conducive to feedback. You model how to present feedback in a familiar, context-rich way, adapting your critique style to match the experience level of the designer you are mentoring.
What You Will Need
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, with a portfolio demonstrating strategic impact and complex problem solving.
  • Figma Expertise: Extensive experience using Figma to develop concepts, prototypes and hi-fidelity designs, ensuring seamless handoffs and asset management.
  • AI-Accelerated Design: Expertly leverage AI tools (e.g., Figma Make, Gemini etc) to refine design requirements, rapid-prototype concepts, automate repetitive layout tasks, and streamline design validation cycles.
  • A Pacesetter Mindset: A proven ability to differentiate your work through innovation and critical thinking.
  • Systems Thinking: Experience leading initiatives that span multiple teams or systems (e.g., Design Systems or Accessibility standards).
  • Mentorship Experience: A history of actively mentoring teammates and identifying growth opportunities for the team.
  • Operational Awareness: The ability to apply familiar processes while experimenting with new techniques to refine current practices.
Key Competencies for Success
  • Optimistic Maturity: You closely partner with leadership to project a positive, mature outlook for the team.
  • Shared Understanding: You prioritize alignment over being "right."
  • Accountability: You hold yourself accountable for decisions and outcomes.
  • Bias Removal: You effectively use questions and prototype fidelity to obtain unbiased information.

We are an organization that embraces innovation and the potential of AI to enhance our processes and improve our work. We are always looking for individuals who are open to learning new technologies and collaborating with AI tools to achieve our goals.
