We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

We, at PayPalWorld, are looking for a Sr Software Engineer (Full Stack / AI Experience) to help build next-generation client-facing portals that redefine how our business participants discover, integrate, and test with our platform. You’ll work on intelligent, AI-assisted web experiences that combine conversational interfaces, secure backend orchestration, and modern cloud technologies — all to make client integration seamless and efficient.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations), based on definitions from more senior roles.
  • Advises immediate management on project-level issues
  • Guides junior engineers
  • Operates with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on knowledge of internal conventions and industry best practices
  • Applies knowledge of technical best practices in making decisions

Expected Qualifications:

  • 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Meet our team: 

The PayPalWorld Developer Experience team builds and operates the Participant Portal and Developer Portal — the primary client-facing systems that enable participants to understand, connect to, and test on our platform. We design intuitive, secure, and intelligent web experiences that support both self-serve onboarding and end-to-end integration testing between participants. Our team owns the full stack — from the web UI to the orchestration layer, and works closely with integration product, platform, and security teams to deliver high-quality client experiences.

Your way to impact: 
In this role, you will help shape the future of how partners integrate with PayPal World’s platform. Working across the full stack and AI-driven workflows, you’ll build conversational and agentic experiences that simplify complex integration processes. Your work will directly improve client onboarding speed, developer experience, and the overall reliability of PayPalWorld’s participant ecosystem.

 
Your day-to-day:

  • Design, build and enhance web-based applications and portals using modern frontend and backend frameworks.
  • Develop AI-assisted and conversational features that guide users through integration and troubleshooting workflows.
  • Collaborate with product and integration teams to model and support end-to-end payment flows (authorization, capture, settlement).
  • Implement and maintain secure APIs, webhooks, and backend orchestration to connect multiple platform systems.
  • Contribute to DevOps and deployment pipelines on AWS to ensure scalability, reliability, and observability.
  • Partner with security and analytics teams to ensure the portals are safe, compliant, and insight driven.
  • Participate in agile development practices, including design discussions, sprint ceremonies, and production support when required.

What you need to bring: 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with emphasis on frontend or backend web application development (JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, or similar).
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures and familiarity with AWS or comparable environments.
  • Solid understanding of building scalable, secure, and high-quality applications.
  • Experience working with API integrations, SDKs, and developer tools.
  • Proven ability to write high-quality, testable code and debug across distributed systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with modern software development practices, version control, and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for delivering reliable, high-impact software. 

It’s great if you also have:

  • Prior experience in payments, fintech, or client integration environments.
  • Experience with developer portals, sandbox or credential management systems.
  • Exposure to AI agentic systems or workflow orchestration.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
