Job Description
- Works with a multidisciplinary team of hardware, software, firmware, mechanical, and quality engineers to drive Optical specific product development
- Support design of prototypes and manufacturing of optical and atomic emission and atomic absorption instrumentation
- Design and develop optical systems for spectroscopic instruments, including monochromatic and interferometer-based systems.
- Recognizes cost and schedule implications on projects. Able to meet critical program schedules and technical objectives
- Drives technical solutions based on standard or accepted technical practices
- Work with R&D as a team to implement product specifications focusing on Optics. Identifies issues and areas for improvement with existing technical processes, either independently or through cross-functional teams. Develop ways to improve technical methodology, processes and products
Preferred characteristics
- Minimum a Master or bachelor’s degree in science/Engineering specialization in Optics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in Optical Design especially in Spectrometer
- At least 2 years of experience in an analytical instrument manufacturing environment
- Experience with successful product development
- Knowledge of AA and ICP-OES optical system design will be an advantage
- Experience in Six Sigma, DOE and Lean manufacturing is a plus
- Demonstrate knowledge of optical design and electrical systems/sub-systems of Analytical Instruments
- Good understanding of optical modeling and design tools such as ZEMAX
- Solid grasp of the engineering change process and function of Product Data Management systems (PDM)
- Knowledge in ISO 9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
- Strong drive for results, balanced with effective decision making and problem-solving skills
