We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

PayPal World is PayPal’s initiative to create a unified, interoperable global platform connecting digital wallets and payment systems to enable seamless cross-border transactions through strategic partnerships. The APAC Wallet Partnerships team drives PayPal World’s expansion across one of the most diverse and fast-evolving payments regions globally.
This role is responsible for building and scaling wallet and partnerships across Asia and AU. APAC is characterized by super-apps, local wallets, QR-based schemes, and mobile-first consumer behavior, requiring deep regional expertise and strong commercial judgment. The role will lead complex, multi-market negotiations, navigate varied regulatory environments, and manage senior partner relationships. Working closely with global product, compliance, risk, and regional teams, the role will localize capabilities, drive partner activation, implement process improvements, and accelerate PayPal World adoption across APAC.

  • Lead complex partnership projects and initiatives.
  • Resolve complex issues and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Manage and grow key partnerships.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance partnership effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development of partnership strategies.

  • 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strategic Partnership Development

  • Identify and prioritize wallet partnership opportunities across Southeast Asia, India, Greater China, Korea, Japan, and ANZ.
  • Develop country-specific playbooks addressing regulatory diversity, mobile-first consumer behavior, and local payment infrastructures.
  • Build senior-level relationships with super-apps, telco wallets, bank-led wallets, and cross-border platforms.
  • Shape APAC wallet strategy in collaboration with regional leadership and global product teams.

Complex Deal Structuring & Negotiation

  • Lead multi-country commercial negotiations across varied regulatory frameworks and market models.
  • Structure pricing, incentives, and partner economics aligned to differing market maturity levels.
  • Navigate cross-border design, licensing, compliance, FX flows, and data/privacy requirements.

Consulting & Advisory

  • Develop market entry strategies for new wallet integrations.
  • Advise leadership on regulatory developments and competitive dynamics.
  • Design playbooks to harmonize product capabilities and go-to-market strategy across APAC.

Analytical & Commercial Rigor

  • Build revenue and cost models reflecting APAC-specific variables.
  • Conduct partner scoring, market sizing, and consumer insights analyses.
  • Define and track KPIs for wallet partnerships.

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Drive alignment with compliance, risk, regulatory, and engineering teams.
  • Influence global product teams to localize features for APAC partners.
  • Support in-market teams on partner activation and optimization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in partnerships, consulting, business development, or payments/fintech roles, with strong APAC exposure.
  • Strong understanding of digital wallets, APMs, and super-app ecosystems.
  • Proven ability to operate across multiple cultures and markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mandarin or another Asian language is a plus.
