PitchBook is seeking an experienced and dynamic APAC Managing Editor to lead our coverage of the private equity and venture capital landscape across Asia-Pacific. Based in Singapore, this position is ideal for a seasoned financial journalist with a deep understanding of the region’s market who wants to build a team.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Report and write timely and insightful articles about dealmaking, fundraising, fund performance, and the economic, regulatory, and other forces shaping the private markets in the APAC region
- Plan, launch, and produce a newsletter tailored to dealmakers, allocators, bankers, and other private market professionals in the APAC region
- Manage, mentor, and lead a small APAC reporting team to deliver high-quality private markets coverage
- Assign and edit high-impact news stories and features, ensuring quality, relevance, and clarity
- Collaborate with global editorial stakeholders to shape the regional agenda in alignment with global priorities
- Maintain strong market awareness and source relationships to inform exclusive reporting and drive impactful journalism
- Work closely with research and data analysts to turn complex data sets into accessible and visually compelling stories
- Maintain editorial standards and demonstrate journalistic integrity through fair and accurate coverage
- Travel to conferences and team leadership meetings as needed
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of financial journalism, with 3+ years focused on private equity, venture capital, or M&A
- Experience managing reporters and collaborating with others to plan news coverage
- Deep understanding of Asia-Pacific private capital markets, including regional variations in investment strategies, fundraising dynamics, and regulatory environments
- Familiarity with financial data, deal databases, and using data to strengthen reporting
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a sharp eye for detail and an ability to translate complex information into engaging stories
- Previous experience working in a newsroom or a similar fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work across time zones and functions
- Able to speak knowledgeably and credibly in panels, podcasts, or media interviews
- Familiarity with online content management systems and project management software
- Familiarity with Associated Press or in-house style guides
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily
- Language proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Japanese is a strong plus, but not required
- Must be authorized to work in Singapore without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
