What Supply Chain Planning contributes to Cardinal Health

The Global Supply Planner at this level is responsible for managing the supply plan for products manufactured by external suppliers and/or contract manufacturers. The role focuses on ensuring product availability, supporting service levels, and maintaining healthy inventory across regions. It involves day-to-day coordination with supply chain partners, including procurement, logistics, demand planning, and external manufacturing sites.

What is expected of you and others at this level

  • Manage purchase orders to contract manufacturers and suppliers based on system-generated planning recommendations and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Manage short- and mid-term supply plans for assigned contracted manufactures and external suppliers.
  • Track production schedules, deliveries, and service performance.
  • Work closely with procurement and logistics to resolve delays and ensure supply continuity.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support product transitions, launches, or phase-outs.
  • Identify potential supply risks and escalate when needed.
  • Maintain accurate planning data in planning tool systems.
  • Contribute to cross-functional discussions and planning meetings.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of supply chain planning processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with data.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with supply chain planning systems (e.g., ERP or advanced planning tools).

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in supply planning, procurement, or related roles; experience with contract manufacturers or external suppliers, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
