At Xtremax, our Splunk Development Engineers build and enhance the systems that power our observability and analytics capabilities. You’ll develop use cases, automate data pipelines, and create solutions that deliver real-time insights across our platforms. We value curiosity, technical excellence, and a drive to turn data into action. Candidates with public sector experience are preferred, as this role supports IT projects for government agencies.
Responsibility:
- Identify and develop new Splunk use cases through log source product research and working with stakeholders
- Update and optimize existing Splunk use cases due to change in ingestion approach and to improve performance of Splunk searches
- Perform ingestion and normalization of new data into Splunk through the use of Splunk apps
- Develop custom Splunk apps, scripts and automation to support the operations of Splunk including data ingestion, transformation and validation
- Create and update documents specifically designed to facilitate effective knowledge transfer processes. These documents will serve as essential resources for training and operational continuity.
- To provide support to Splunk ops engineers in Splunk troubleshooting activities. This involves technical assessment and problem resolution
- Personnel are required to maintain regular office attendance during designated working hours. Should incidents arise outside of working hours, personnel must be available to provide appropriate response and support.
Requirements
- Understanding of SDLC and CICD
- Strong understanding of Splunk architecture, features and capabilities
- Strong proficiency in Splunk’s Search Processing Language (SPL)
- General understanding of IT infrastructure, including Operating Systems, Databases and Network/Security devices
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with Git and modern branching workflow (Gitlab)
- Experience with public cloud platform (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with implementing serverless compute (AWS Lambda, Azure Function)
