BNY is seeking a future team member for the role of Specialist 2, Client Operations to join our Global Clearing Platform in Singapore. This operational role will support core settlement and custody processes and the expansion of the One Platform initiative across APAC. The successful candidate will combine strong operational execution with a client-focused approach, support the local client team in strengthening existing relationships, and contribute to service improvement and future business growth.

Key Responsibilities-

  • Act with urgency, ownership and accountability in daily operations, serving as a first line of defence and escalating issues appropriately to mitigate risk and avoid financial loss.
  • Provide pre-settlement and post-settlement support across relevant transaction flows, including fails management, buy-ins, reconciliations and client, agent and broker query management.
  • Coordinate with local sub-custodian banks and market participants to support settlement activity, foreign exchange requirements and regional market deadlines.
  • Investigate exceptions, resolve operational issues and escalate complex transaction disputes, client queries and risk items appropriately.
  • Act as a local operational contact for APAC clients, supporting client meetings, service reviews, onboarding activities, operational readiness exercises and service improvement initiatives.
  • Support clients with settlement, custody, asset servicing, cross-border transfer and market infrastructure enquiries, ensuring timely, accurate and complete responses.
  • Partner with Client Service, Relationship Management, Onboarding, Product and Operations teams to deliver a seamless client experience and support APAC business growth.
  • Provide proactive updates throughout the lifecycle of operational issues, incidents, service requests and client enquiries, actively managing expectations through resolution.
  • Support operational due diligence, client onboarding, market expansion, platform migration and operational change initiatives connected with the One Platform strategy.
  • Identify recurring operational themes and work with stakeholders to improve client outcomes, service quality, operational efficiency and control effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual touchpoints and support the adoption of automation, AI and digital tools.
  • Maintain accurate procedures and documentation, support reporting of operational KRIs and client KPIs, and contribute to knowledge sharing, cross-training and follow-the-sun coverage.

In order to be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with a banking or financial services background.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in settlements, securities operations, custody, trade support, cash operations, corporate actions or client operations.
  • Strong understanding of settlement lifecycle processes, reconciliations, fails management and exception handling.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messaging, custody processes, depositories, sub-custodian networks and US and APAC market practices preferred.
  • Experience supporting institutional, wealth management, custody, clearing or broker-dealer clients preferred.
  • Ability to explain operational concepts clearly and professionally to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility through ownership, responsiveness, accountability and professionalism.
  • Cantonese and/or Mandarin language capability would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, with foundational knowledge of AI and automation preferred.
  • Flexible team player willing to cross-train and support Singapore public holidays and rotating APAC market coverage where required.
